FMP Idea
A short film about two friends on a dangerous journey

The Idea

The short film would follow the teenagers Sam and Chris who are
on a dangerous journey to find their friend Olly while being hunted
by an unknown Psychopath. The Short film is shot in one
continuous shot so the audience can experience the thrill and
tension of the characters as if they are there with them.

This idea has been in my head for a while and the reason I wanted
the film must be in the style of one continuous shot is because the
film is about a journey and that the audience should be taken on
that journey so that can experience the anxiety and pain the
characters feel.

This production will take time to film as there are no breaks in-
between scenes but the actors and rest of the crew will be
prepared and they will know exactly what to do and when to
change camera angle for example changing from a medium
shot to a close. I know people who are good at acting who I can
get in contact with and I will be the main cameraman to save

pressure of someone else doing it. I will have scary

costumes and props being used to add to the tension
and to align my production with the thriller genre.

My Target audience

For my production, my target audience will be 13 -25 year olds and to people
who are suitable for watching a thriller/ Horror film. The reason my target
audience range is this is because there is a message behind the film which I
think younger people may not understand and if people don’t understand
the moral of the film then there is no point watching it. There will also be
infrequent strong language and a violent theme throughout which I think
younger people might be too scared to watch.

My Role

My role throughout this production will be to film and edit this production. I will
be the main cameraman followed by a behind the scenes cameraman as
well filming behind me. I am basically in charge of everything and I will
control what my actors say and do too what fits with the production. I am
basically the director of the film. I will also be the one editing the production
so I will be adding the title and the credits to the end. I will also add music
and sound effects when needed throughout.

Title of project: The last walk

Rationale
Over the last units I've done before my FMP, I feel like I have improved in all aspects of
work more than anything else I have done in education before. At the start of the year
during Units 1-4 and the factual programme I was very low on confidence and i was
anxious when using sites like Adobe premiere and Adobe Photoshop. My factual
programme editing went very wrong and I was very scared to do more work. But since
then throughout my other productions I have improved in all areas of units. I have put
more effort into my research and planning showing of my creative side and my
production ideas have been fun and entertaining.

Project concept
For my Final major project i Intend to film a one-shot thriller. It’s a short film about
two friends who go on a journey to find their other friend who is missing. They
discover mysterious clues on the way adding to the tension and confusion. A mysterious
person kills one of the friends and it’s the job of the other to track down this person
before it’s too late for him too. I have chosen this production because it’s out of my
comfort zone and i don't think many people will be doing this sort of thing. I have also

chosen this idea as I have had inspiration from 1917 the one
shot continuous film. I want the audience to feel like they’re at the
location of the two characters and that their experiencing the thrill
and excitement A one shot film shows this idea off effectively. Another
reason I have chosen this is because I was bored of placing a camera
down and the walking past it. It’s what I've done for my previous
productions and I wanted to do something different. I understand that this will take
time and patience but I think it will be fun to film and good to watch.

Evaluation
I intend to evaluate my FMP by weekly blogs. This is an easy and efficient way of
showing my markers my progress through research planning and production. I will
show clearly what I did dura g the week in great depth and I will also show what I was
self-critical about during the week as well. I will also complete everyone on time every
week to show punctuality. I will self-evaluate as well saying what I'm critical about and
how I could have improved that work. I will be comparing mine to other short films and
the 1919 film to understand what camera angles I will need.
