Standard 4: Developmentally, Culturally, and Linguistically Appropriate Teaching Practices

There are a lot of important things when assessing a dual language learner. For example, the

teacher with the dual learner needs to consider the unique aspect of linguistic and cognitive development.

The teacher also needs to have all the languages as well as English, so it is easier for the child to translate

over. I would also make a daily schedule unique for every child that way they know what to do. Yes, I

would use the same approaches and measures when assessing a child who speaks English only because

you do not know if that child has a speech problem or not. I would seek out a translator for the child and

or I would use google translate to talk to them. The information that I would learn will strengthening mine

and the child’s communication style because it will help the child know that I will not hurt them. They

will also know that I’m take in consideration their culture. In addition to the top I would include into my

teaching the different cultures and the different languages.
