Aim of Project :- The smart system is capable of analyzing a situation through data and
sensors to control and sort through predictive data the most efficient way of managing waste.
The increase in urban dwellers as they seek the enjoyment of life in urban smart cities increase
the volume and output of generated waste.

Introduction of Project :- In today’s era, the waste generation rates are rising
exponentially. According to a World Bank report , the world waste generation has crossed a
whopping 2.01 billion tonnes in 2016 and is most likely to increase to 3.40 billion tonnes by
2050.The municipalities of developing as well as that of developed countries are having various
issues in implementing their waste management model. Waste collection today is inefficiently
performed. Some bins are overflowing with waste causing unnecessary cleanup cost while other
bins are nearly empty making waste collection unnecessary. This type of inefficiency wastes
time and is harmful for the environment. This also leads to increase in fuel consumption and
pollution. This rapid increase in population and urbanization, India is currently facing a waste
management crisis. Around 400 million people live in 8000 urban towns generating around 60
million tonnes of solid waste in one year. Out of 60, only 43 million tonnes of the waste is taken
and around 30 million tonnes is dumped in landfills. According to the experts, the waste
management system of India is flawed. The issue of inefficient collections by the corporation’s
vehicle has been prevalent due to lack of real time data and information, which has increased the
overall costing for the municipality. As an example , the current solid waste management system
of Ahmedabad, a metropolitan city in India costs the government an amount of 58 million dollars
per year. The world currently needs a sustainable and economical waste management system.
Innovation and technology combined with proper planning by the administrative department will
create an effective and efficient model of waste management. The concept of smart waste
management is implementable in cities where waste production is domestically high but the
effort put to control it is relatively very low. This idea is compatible mainly with the concept of
smart cities. The smart waste management mainly avoids the congested collection of waste
generated domestically which creates difficulty to manage its disposal. All cities, regardless their
size, their geographical location or their economic level, spend huge amount of money every
year for waste collection..
