shaping of the stone

craft.
5. The industry employs over 1500 artisans in the
district.

Mahoba – Gaura Stone Craft

1. Gaura stone craft is made of radiant white coloured


stone that is predominantly found in Mahoba
region.
2. The Artisans from Mahoba are known worldwide for
their unique artworks of unmatched specimens of
Gaura stone handicraft.
3. Gaura stone has a soft texture. It is cut into several
pieces which are then used for making various craft
items that are used for ornamental purpose
4. There are around 128 small units engage in Gaura
stone craft.
5. The industry employs over 2200 artisans in the
district.

Hamirpur - Leather Shoes or Juti

1. Sumerpur town of the Hamirpur district has been


known for production of leather Shoes or Juti which
is completely handmade. 
2. Hamirpur cluster produces only handmade leather
Jutis. The product is completely hand crafted.
3. The key processes involved in manufacturing of
Leather Curing, Soaking, Painting, Lining, Fleshing,
Staking and Dry Drumming
4. There are around 15 small units engage leather Juti
manufacturing.
5. The industry employs over 20 artisans in the
district.

Chitrakoot – Wooden Toys


1. Many craftsmen in Chitrakoot are engaged in
making wooden toys
2. The wooden toys produced in Chitrakoot are sent to
different districts of the state for sale as well as for
fairs and exhibitions
3. Due to be a forest area, there is abundance of wood
(raw material) in Chitrakoot
4. There are around 707 small units wood crafting.
5. The industry employs over 4705 artisans in the
district.
