Kondapalli Toys – Made from softwood known as Tella Poniki which are found in the Kondapalli hills in Krishna district,
Andhra Pradesh.

Kalamkari Art – Kalamkari is a type of hand-painted or block printed cotton textile produced in Andhra Pradesh. Only
natural dyes are used in kalamkari. There are two distinctive styles of Kalamkari art in India – Srikalahasti style and the
Machilipatnam style.

Etikoppaka Toys – Etikoppaka is a village on the banks of Varaha River in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.

Venkatagiri Saree - Nellore district.

Mangalagiri Sarees and Fabrics - Produced by performing handicraft weaving in Mangalagiri, a town in Guntur district of
the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Dharmavaram handloom pattu sarees and paavadas are textiles woven by hand with mulberry silk and zari. They are made in
Dharmavaram of Anantapur district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Budithi Bell and Brass Craft are products made out of alloy like brass at Budithi, a village in Srikakulam district, Andhra
Pradesh.

Tholu bommalata is the shadow puppet theatre tradition of the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It usually depicts stories
from Hindu epics such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Uppada Jamdani Sari is a silk sari style woven in Uppada of East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Gollabhama sari are saris made in Siddipet, Telangana, India. These cotton saris are popular for their inlay figure work and
motifs.
Pochampally Ikat Sarees - 40 villages in Nalgonda and Warangal weave Ikat textiles.
Telia Rumal - Puttapaka in Nalgonda is the centre for these handlooms.
Adilabad Dokra – Made of Brass, the uniqueness of this art form is that no two sculptures are the same, as they are not made

Famous Handicrafts of Karnataka

Bidriware - Bidri Craft, unique metalware. This unique art of silver engraved on metal has always enthralled people with its
lure. Bidriware is a renowned metal handicraft that derives its name from Bidar, presently in Karnataka.

Channapatna Toys - These are wooden toys (and dolls) that are manufactured in the town of Channapatna in the Ramanagara
district of Karnataka state, the wood of ivory-wood tree is used.

Mysuru Paintings - It evolved from the paintings of Vijayanagar times. The erstwhile Vijayanagar School of Painting
gradually evolved into the many styles of painting in South India, including the Mysore and Tanjore schools of painting.
Bhagalpuri Silk is also very famous. 96% of India’s Muga Silk comes from Assam, also 65% of Eri silk comes from Assam.

Famous Handicrafts of Maharashtra

Warli Painting – Warli painting is a style of tribal art created by the tribal people from the north Sahyadri range in India. The
Warli artists use their clay huts as a canvas to vent their artistic urges.
The subject matter of Warli paintings mostly include geometry shapes to depict nature, scenes from daily life like hunting,
fishing, farming, trees and animals. Festivals and dances are also depicted in the paintings.

Kolhapuri Chappals (Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur and Satara districts) – Known for its durability, a pair of Kolhapuri chappals
made of leather can take up to six weeks.

Paithani Sarees – These date back to the Satavahana Dynasty that ruled between the second century BC and the second
century AD. The fine silk handloom sarees get their name from the town in which they originated i.e. Paithan in
Aurangabad, Maharashtra and truly flourished during the era of the Mughals, particularly during the rule of Aurangzeb.

Narayan Peth saris come from the Solapur District of Maharashtra.

Mashru and Himroo Fabrics originate from the Aurangabad District in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.

Khatwa - It is the name given to appliqué works in Bihar, India. Khatwa is about designing by cutting of one fabric and

Bhagalpur sari - It is a silk sari, More than a century old, Tussar silk weaving industry in Bhagalpur has about 30,000
handloom weavers working on some 25,000 handlooms.
Sikki grass crafts are various handicrafts that are made from a special kind of golden tinted grass known as sikki found in
Bihar.

Seashell craft – Being a coastal state, Goa has immense sea shells for its craftsmen to make cool seashell crafts like
lampshades, mirrors, ornaments like necklaces, rings and bracelets, Chandeliers, ashtrays, curtains etc
Azulejos or Hand painted tiles– Azulejos are hand painted tiles that were originally brought to Goa by the Portuguese. Blue
and yellow were the favourite colour combinations of the tiles which depicted mainly floral patterns and religious scenes.

Blue Pottery - Jaipur is famous for blue pottery. The blue in the pottery comes from the eye catching cobalt blue dye. The
common motifs are inspired from Mughal Era arabesque patterns, animal and bird motifs.

Usta Art – Usta Art is basically painting on camel hide and Bikaner is known for it. This art is world famous for its
Meenakari on camel hide.

Makrana White Marble (Sangmarmar)

Makrana Marble Pachikari Inlay Work (Bhilwara).
Meenakari and Sculpture art (Jaipur) - Meenakari, the fusion of coloured materials such as cobalt oxide for blue and copper
oxide for green onto the surface of metals.

Kota Doriya - Light weight fabric made of tiny woven squares (khat) which is still hand woven on traditional pit looms in
Kota, made of pure cotton and silk and have square like patterns known as khats on them.

Kathputli of Rajasthan – Can be made of wood, cotton cloth, wire etc.

Molela Clay Work - Molela is a village in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, situated on the banks of the river Banas. The
distinction here lies in the terracotta plaques made here, only here all over India. Made as a flat surface, unlike the usual idols
made elsewhere, this craft is unique in design.

Thewa Art Work (Gold Work on Glass) - Thewa is a special art of jewelry making which involves embossing of intricately
worked-out sheet gold on molten glass. It evolved in Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan India. Its origin dates back to the Mughal
age.

Sanganer, near Jaipur, is famous for its fine hand block printing in subdued colors.

Famous Handicrafts of Sikkim

Choktse - Choktses are small wooden tables which are very delicately painted and polished. The tables are both foldable and
portable, made in different dimensions.

Thangkas - The culmination of Tibetan Buddhist art, thangkas are pictorial religious scrolls. Most often hand painted with
mineral colours and gold dust, traditional thangkas were also embroidered or appliqued.

Famous Handicrafts of Punjab

Phulkari - It refers to the folk embroidery of Punjab. Although Phulkari means floral work, the designs include not only
flowers but also cover motifs and geometrical shapes. It is also done in Haryana.

Paranda - weaved multicolored threads together and tied it in their hair in order to make it look pretty.

Toda Embroidery – The Toda embroidery is an artwork of the Toda people of Nilgiris in Tamilnadu. Eg - the traditional

Patola Saree – Patola is a double ikat woven sari, usually made from silk, made in Patan, Surat and Ahmedabad.
Surat Zari Craft – It is a textile product made from yarns of silk and cotton mixed with gold, silver or copper.
Sankheda furniture - It is colourful teak wood furniture of Gujarat treated with lacquer and painted in traditional bright
shades of maroon and gold. It is made in Sankheda village in Vadodara.
Agates of Cambay – The stone is brought from the Rajpipla Hills about 200 kilometres away.
Tangaliya Shawl – Handwoven shawl and textile made by the Dangasia community in Gujarat, India. The 700-year-old
indigenous craft is native to the Surendranagar district.
Jamnagari Bandhani Saree, Bandhani Saree is also famous in Rajasthan.
Khavda Pottery – It is practised in North Kutch. The potter uses a specific type of mud “Rann Ki Mitti” which is obtained
from a lake near the Khavda village.
Ajrak - It is a block-printed textile that is resist-dyed using natural dyes. including indigo and madder. It is made in Kutch,
Gujarat.

Chanderi Fabric - It is a traditional sari made in Chanderi, Ashok Nagar district, Madhya Pradesh. It is produced by weaving
in silk and golden Zari in the traditional cotton yarn.

alloy of 90% or more pure silver. Forms of animals,birds flowers and even mirror frames are made in Tarakasi work.
Pattachitra (Raghurajpur) – It is a traditional cloth based scroll painting practised in Odisha. Traditionally it has been done on
cloth canvas. The subject matter of Pattachitra is mostly mythological religious stories and folklore.
Pipili Applique handicrafts - Puri district, It is a town of artisans famous for their colourful fabrics.
PAPIER MACHE (Crafting art from waste) - The art is practised in almost every region of the state and involves the use of
waste cloth, natural fibres, and papers. It is also famous in Jammu and Kashmir.

Habaspuri Saree & Fabrics (Kalahandi) - Habaspuri is cotton base traditional handloom textiles of Odisha, Habaspuri sari is

Pashmina Shawl - derived from the fleece of the Himalayan mountain goat (the pashmina goat).

Shahtoosh Shawl – These are prepared from the fur in the undercoat of Chiru goats (Tibetan Antelope).

Sozani embroidery - This typical embroidery from Kashmir, better known as Kashmir Sozani craft, which is also believed to
have Persian roots, can be found on various fabrics and apparels.

Panjrakari - It is the making of doors and windows, ventilators by filling them with a netted lattice work. Small wooden
pieces are arranged in geometric forms to display their edges.

Khatamband - A ceiling made of wood works in a geometric pattern.

Zalakdozi embroidery - It is a style of embroidery from the Jammu and Kashmir region in the northwest of the Indian
subcontinent. It is made using a chain stitch to create long and flowing designs, whereby the motifs are filled with concentric
rings.

Sarkanda Craft – Sarkanda is a plant that grows abundantly in Haryana. In the winters when this
golden white coloured plant dries up, it is harvested and transformed into a variety of products.

Bagh Art – Bagh is an art done on khaddar, i.e, coarse cotton cloth with silk thread. In this craft, a
geometric pattern of design is followed.

बनारसी साड़ी-यह साड़ी भारत की बेहतरीन सािड़यों म से एक है और यह सोने और चां दी के ोकेड या जरी, महीन रे शम और शानदार
कढ़ाई के िलए जानी जाती है ।
