Final Project Worksheet

In Week 5 you submit your Final Project. In Weeks 1 through 4 of the course, you work
on Milestones that serve as building blocks for the Final Project. This worksheet is the
Week 1 Milestone Assignment and must be submitted by Day 7.

For the Final Project, you will complete a 1,500- to 2,000-word paper that looks deeply
at a single social issue across multiple popular culture artifacts.

I am interested in this issue because (100–150 words): Include one reference to an

academically relevant source, either from our classroom, the Walden Library, or
Google Scholar, that speaks to your interest in the issue.

I am interested in this issue because, in the past years, a new wave of violence against
woman has taken mayor part in the everyday news in my country Perú. Now it’s normal
to hear about abuse, rape and murder against woman, and I think popular music plays
a big role here. Some famous “Reggaetón” artists incite hatred and abuse of women
through their lyrics, and this massive popular song are being consumed by even kids,
that try to imitate this “idols” of popular music. A rape and hate culture is being installed
in the mind of the youngest, and that’s why I find interesting this topic, the relationship
between violence and this kind of music. Should this song be banned? Are they really
influencing people?
