PERFORMANCE STANDARDS-BASED ASSESSMENT MODEL

General Mathematics 11.2.4

Performance Standard: The learner is able to judiciously apply logic in


real-life arguments.

PERFORMANCE TASK
Your task is to find out if the prime suspects of a murder
GOAL:
case are innocent or guilty.
ROLE: You are a detective.
AUDIENCE: Your clients are the victim’s family, relatives, and lawyer.
As an esteemed detective in your city, you are invited by
the family of the victim of a murder case. The victim is
engaged in Philosophy-related profession. Before he died,
he was able to create clues. The family members and the
lawyer were having a hard time to decipher the clue,
that’s why they are asking your help in order to give light
on the case and find out what the professor was trying to
SITUATION: say in his clues.

The clues are the following:


1. If Darryl is guilty, then Elsa is guilty.
2. If Carol is guilty, then Darryl is guilty.
3. Benedict is not guilty.
4. If Alma is guilty, then Benedict is guilty.
5. Alma or Carol is guilty.
You will create a report containing a comprehensive
PRODUCT / explanation on why each suspect is considered innocent
PERFORMANCE or guilty. You may provide mathematical truth tables
: and/or mathematical arguments utilizing the rules of
inference in order to support your judgment.
Your report will be presented in both written and oral
STANDARDS & form and it must meet the following standards: judicious
CRITERIA: application of logic, accuracy, and comprehensiveness of
explanation.

Criteria for Judging:


 Judicious Application of Logic - 40 %
 Accuracy - 30 %
 Comprehensiveness of Explanation - _30 %
100 %
