Definition of Terms:

 Eggshells – it is the outer covering of a hard-shelled egg and of some forms of eggs


with

soft outer coats. Bird eggshells contain calcium carbonate and dissolve in various acids,

including the vinegar used in cooking. While dissolving, the calcium carbonate in an egg

shell reacts with the acid to form carbon dioxide.

 Chickens- a domesticated fowl, a subspecies of the Red Junglefowl. As one of the most

common and widespread domestic animals, with a population of more than 24 billion in

2003, there are more chickens in the world than any other species of bird. 

 Commercial Feeds - any mixed ration for animal feeding offered for sale on the open

market.

 Gastro- intestinal tracts - an organ system responsible for consuming and digesting

foodstuffs, absorbing nutrients, and expelling waste.

 Beta- Carotene- a strongly colored red-orange pigment abundant in plants and fruits. It

is an organic compound and chemically is classified as a hydrocarbon and specifically as

a terpenoid,

reflecting its derivation from isoprene units.

 Anti-oxidant enzymes- the main line of defense against free radicals in animal and plant

cells.

 Omega 3- polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) with a double bond (C=C) at the third

carbon atom from the end of the carbon chain.

 Serum Cholesterol- it is the total amount of cholesterol found in your blood. It is a soft,
waxy substance found in the blood and cells of the body.

 Citrus Molasses- is a by-product of citrus juice extraction. The fresh pulp obtained after

pressing the fruit is mixed with lime and pressed to remove moisture.

 DCSP (Dried Citrus Sinensis Peel)- it a common by-product of extracting juice from citrus

and produced in a large scale in Asian agricultural areas.

 Maize- s a large grain plant domesticated by indigenous


peoples in Mesoamerica in prehistoric times.
