The deal with Jay

In this episode Sarah Koenig tells us about Jay, the Adnan’s former friend who testified against

him. It looks like there are doubts about Jay’s statements, due to it is difficult to assure if he was

his accomplice or simply he was threatened by Adnan in order to remain quiet and no to tell

anything to the police. Other interesting points make Jay’s statements unbelievable, for example

Jay had accurate information of where Hae’s car was placed after she was murdered, however,

he was not sentenced to prison like Adnan, the new question is Why?. During Adnan’s trial, Jay

was calm and he only answered yes no questions, maybe that attitude made the jury believed in

his story. Nevertheless, the detectives disregard important proceedings with Jay so it seems there

was a deal between them. As a conclusion, many people who met Jay, said that he was not a

common guy and neither act like a normal kid. To my own point of view, we can conclude that

Jay could have two personalities.

To be suspected

In this episode, Sarah talked with Summer, a Hae’s friend who assures that she could not have

been in Best Buy at the time the prosecutor told the murder happened, due to both of them were

together at that time. On the other hand, Laura, another Hae’s friend, said that in Best Buy there

was not public phones so Jay’s story is less believable. So then, we can conclude at the moment

that Hay probably was not murdered at 2:36PM. It looks like everything was a confusion, but

due to the pólice disregard some evidence and combined with Adnan’s lack of experience, the

trial ended with Adnan in prison. Hae’s family and the judge did not believe in Adnan’s

innocence. However, Sarah said that Adnan, during his time in prison, was praised for his model

conduct. The new question is Did Adnan really murder Hae?.
