Dear Parents and Guardians,

We had an extremely successful retrieval yesterday. Mountain View rocks!

This is what is included in your child’s stuff:

Art Folder: Your child’s artwork – you may want to look through their masterpieces.

Writing Folder: All the books they have written, including a published one are in this folder except for
the latest pieces. Your child can share and read these books to you. If they want to add on to any of
them, encourage them to do so. There are a few blank books in each so they can write some new
pieces. We have the saying “writing takes a long time” so encourage them to take time with the new
books they make. We add pictures and words to each page and the pictures should match the words.

TAPS-the scribbler stands for Title, Author, Picture, Sentence. The students can respond to a book they
have read or listened to using this scribbler.

Journal-your child sometimes wrote about their day in this journal. They can continue to do this at
home.

Poem duo tang-it has a collection of poems and songs we learned over the year. You and your child can
read them together. They can read them too. I have included a new poem and Leo the Leprechaun left
a poem for them as well. Your child can look for words they see often such as like, the, to, was in the
poems and circle them or color them with crayon. There are activities attached to some of the poems
too.

Letter formation duo tang-these sheets can be finished by your child. Ensure your child is forming the
letter by following the arrows. This can be tricky for them, but it is the best way to form the letter and
the book is about careful practice. Letter formation practice is not a race. We use the verbal path
language when we form the letters and I have placed that on the web page under resources if you are
interested.

ABC/Words half scribbler-We used this to practice our letter formation using the verbal path from a to z
lower case. I would say the letter and make it and they would say the letter and make it. Then we
would write down some words from the word wall that we could read. (2 or 3). I would listen to them
read them to check. I have included the word wall in the resource section of my webpage if you want to
use it.

Math duo tang- After we counted objects in a collection, we would record them. I encouraged them to
try to count in more than one way and show it. We had started to write the numerical representation
underneath each grouping in the last month. I have included a couple of blank sheets in case you want
to continue doing this with your child. There are a few math games in a plastic sleeve in the front. You
may already have them but the two I picked are helpful for number formation, addition and subitizing.

Ziploc bag-I tried to include some scissors and glue and crayons or markers so your child could use these
things at home for creations.

Enjoy! Reach out if you have any questions.
