Welcome to Beginning Drama. I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m
looking forward to a happy and productive school year. Through improvisation, simple scripted
scenes, performance projects, and practical application, we will learn to identify what makes
performances believable and explore the tools used to create, articulate, and execute them.
Upon completion of this course, students will have a strong foundation for future scene work,
script analysis, and play production. Public performances will serve as a culmination of specific
instructional goals. Students will be required to attend and participate in rehearsals and
performances outside the school day to support, extend, and assess learning in the classroom.

Students are asked to bring the following supplies by Monday, August 19, 2019:

 Pencil  Pencil Case

 3 Subject Spiral Notebook  Colored Pencils
 Glue Sticks  Pencil Sharpener
 Black Pants, Black Shirt, and Black Shoes for Crew “Dress” (Theatre Shirts are acceptable
for this) – Students will keep these at home until they need to wear them.

There will be an optional $30 membership fee for students looking to join Thespians (this fee is
paid one time only during their high school career, see handout for more on Thespians). Please
acknowledge on the Thespian Handout if you would like the $30 deducted from your student’s
Highland Fund.

Grading for each 9-weeks will be as follows:
