Performance Task Fact Sheet

This Performance Task Fact Sheet intends to give students in Empowerment Technologies: ICT
For Professional Track the guidelines, tools and evaluation rubric for Graphic Design. This
Performance Task (PT) covers the third lesson in ICT which is Graphics Design.The approach
for this lesson is through collaborative, hands-on and home-based practice. The output will
serve as the Midterm PT or the One Big Task of students for this course.

Here is the outline of lessons for Midterms in ICT:

Performance Task Competencies:


Upon completion of this task, the students should be able to:

1. evaluate existing websites and online resources based on the principles of


layout, graphic, and visual message design,

2. use image manipulation techniques on existing images to change or


enhance their current state to communicate a message for a specific
purpose; and

3. create an original or derivative ICT content to effectively communicate a


visual message in an online environment related to specific professional
tracks.

Performance Task Requisites:


In order to prepare the students for this task, the following formative activities should be

completed: (Guidelines are found in Page 6 onwards)

Performance Task Rationale:
This task is cascaded to students thru home-based digital means because:

1. It will enhance students’ capacity to collaborate using online platforms,

2. It will propel students to do personal research and extensive learning,

3. It will serve as alternative learning activity for missed school days,

4. It will inculcate the significance of self-study,

5. It will allow students to use their personal tools (i.e. smart phones, tablets)
in doing the task; and

6. It will eliminate impact to environment thru paperless or green IT initiative.

Performance Task Virtues:


The following shall be further observed among the students through this task:

a. Critical Thinker - being able to evaluate and analyze visual messages

b. Communicator - being able to produce media that conveys meanings

c. Interpersonal - being able to collaborate or interact with other stakeholders

d. Technology Literate - being able to explore tools and platforms in designing

e. Hands-on Learner - being able to use and master skills in graphics design

Performance Task Components:


The Midterm PT breakdown is as follows:

Task #1: Multimedia Room/Radio Station Backdrop

Task #2: Evacuation Plan Layout

Task #3: SHS Building Room Labels Design

Task #4: Mission-Vision & Prayer Frame Design

Performance Task Guidelines:

TASK #1: MULTIMEDIA ROOM/RADIO STATION BACKDROP (40%)


(FOR ALL STUDENTS)
a. The students will be guided by their Teacher to edit a station backdrop for
the Multimedia Room or Radio Station in 2F of SHS Building.

b. The dimensions of the backdrop is 5ft in Height and 9ft in Width.

c. The backdrop will be printed in regular tarpaulin.

d. The printed output will be mounted in the room as a special project of the
ICT Students Batch 2019-2020.

e. There will only be one (1) output for all Grade 12 ICT students.

f. This will represent a base grade of 40% in Midterm PT

TASK #2: EVACUATION PLAN LAYOUT (60%)


(FOR G12-A STEM & ABM)
a. The students shall make personal research and consultations about Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM).

b. Their DRRM research regarding guidelines and standards will be applied in
creating a layout of evacuation plans for the SHS building.

c. The initial task is to layout the Floor Plan of the three (3) storeys of the SHS
building.

d. Standard symbols and signs are expected in the layout.

e. All rooms and halls in the SHS building should be prepared with individual
layouts.

f. The size of each individual layout should be 1/2 of an A4 paper (crosswise).

g. The layout will be submitted for approval. Upon such approval, the outputs
shall be printed in regular sintra boards or panaflex panels.

h. The printed output will be mounted in each room or hall as a special project
of the G12-A ICT Students Batch 2019-2020.

i. This will be graded using Evaluation Rubric A, representing 60% of Midterm


PT.

TASK #3: SHS BUILDING ROOM LABELS DESIGN (60%)


(FOR G12-B HUMSS & ABM)

a. The students shall make a design template of room labels for the SHS
building.

b. All rooms and halls in the SHS building should be prepared with labels
based on one design template.

c. The size of each individual label should be 1/4 of an A4 paper (crosswise).

d. The layout will be submitted for approval. Upon such approval, the outputs
shall be printed in regular sintra boards or panaflex panels.

e. The printed output will be mounted in each room or hall as a special project
of the G12-B ICT Students Batch 2019-2020.

f. There should be one (1) label for each door. Meaning, a room with two (2)
doors shall have two labels.

g. This will be graded using Evaluation Rubric B, representing 60% of Midterm


PT.

TASK #4: MISSION-VISION & PRAYER FRAME DESIGN (60%)


(FOR G12-C HUMSS)

a. The students shall make designs of a frame containing the (i) Mission-Vision
Statement of the school and the (ii) Prayer in St. Anthony Montessori.

b. All six (6) classrooms in the SHS building shall be prepared with these two
items.

c. The size of each individual frame should be 1/2 of an A4 paper (crosswise).

d. The layout will be submitted for approval. Upon such approval, the outputs
shall be printed in regular sintra boards or panaflex panels.

e. The printed output will be mounted in each classroom as a special project of


the G12-C ICT Students Batch 2019-2020.

f. This will be graded using Evaluation Rubric B, representing 60% of Midterm


PT.

Exercise #4 (Visual Message and Webpages Critique)

IMPORTANT: This activity is INDIVIDUAL. Output should be submitted through Facebook


Messenger personal message (PM) to Zymon Maquinto on or before February 3, 2020
10:00AM.

DIRECTIONS: Do the required steps below. Read the guide questions and answer them in
strictly five (5) sentences each. No need to type the questions and answers in Word Document.
Just send it as a personal message in Messenger (just message, no attachments).

For ABM students: E-Commerce


Go to the online site or mobile application home page of Lazada and Shopee.

Observe and compare the visuals and advertisements used by the two online shopping
platforms. Answer the following questions:

1. How effective are the graphics in enticing customers to buy or purchase?

2. What could be the competitive edge of each shopping platform over one

another in terms of their digital marketing?

3. What can you recommend to improve their website or app in terms of

graphics and marketing impact?

For HUMSS students: Public Services


Go to the online Passport Appointment site of Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Observe the visuals they use to present information and procedures their clients can

use in accessing their system and making appointments. Answer the following guide

questions:

1. How effective are the graphics in informing and instructing the clients to help

them in making passport appointment?

2. What difficulty may be experienced by the client in making appointment using

their system?

3. What can you recommend to improve their website in terms of graphics and

excellent online public service?

For STEM students: Webpage Portability


Assess and compare your experience in using Facebook through the Facebook mobile

application for Android or iOS, versus opening free.facebook.com in your browser.

Answer the following questions:

1. What are setbacks of using Facebook in your browser compared to that of

using it in the app in terms of graphic design?

2. What are the convenience factors given by using the Facebook application?

3. How can free.facebook.com be made more user-friendly and graphic-efficient

without upgrading the level of technology used?

Exercise #5 (Design Elements Editing)

IMPORTANT: This activity is INDIVIDUAL. Output should be submitted on or before February


3, 2020 10:00AM.

DIRECTIONS: READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN.

1. Take an original photo of a thing or any subject. Save the raw image in your device.

2. Download Instagram mobile application in your phone or mobile device.

3. Sign in or sign up using your account that can easily identify you. You may create a new
dummy account just for this exercise and delete it after the output is graded.

4. Use the Instagram app to edit the image using the following presets: (Observe how each
design element changes or modify the image.)

a. Filter

b. Brightness

c. Contrast

d. Structure

e. Warmth

f. Saturation

g. Highlights

h. Shadows

5. All the presets above should be used.

6. Save the edited image in your device.

7. Upload the two images in just a single IG Post (Select Multiple). The first image should be
the EDITED and the second image in the order is the RAW image.

8. Before you proceed with upload, TAG in the photo the IG Account @ictclass1920
9. Remember, NO TAG, NO GRADE.

10. All outputs will be checked on February 3, 2020 at 10:00AM.

11. After the upload of your image, send a personal message to Zymon Maquinto in Facebook
Messenger about the simple definition of at least 5 preset/design elements above. Choose
at least 5 and define, include the source.

12. On February 4, 2020 at 10:00AM, you may already delete your post and/or your dummy
account, if you want to.
