programme-competition)

Project B is for a display room and advertisement campaign for the ‘Low-
emission vehicles eligible for a plug-in grant’
Vocational Scenario or
(https://www.gov.uk/plug-in-vehicle-grants)
Context

You need to design and develop a 3D model for the Display space of your
chosen project.

Both events are running in the same location and will have half of the space
available. The space is 20 meters by 15 meters. A set of double doors are in
the middle of the opposing 20-meter walls and a clear path will be open for
viewers to walk between these.

You have been allocated a space of 9 meters by 15 meters to design within.

You have been asked specifically to produce a backdrop or number of

backdrop designs and consider the use of appropriate materials, props and
divisions for the event. It is desirable that visitors to the event will be able to
move around the displays and be made aware of what areas are accessible.

Task 1 You need to:

 Create a design for a 3D model of the Display space of one of the
two Projects.
 Considering the available space, inclusive of backdrops and
additional relevant assets, create a design for a 2D graphic to be
used as background art work in the promotional materials for the
event. The design needs to include:
o the design brief (purpose, requirements, target audience)
o research done (e.g., market research, process planning)
o visual themes and aesthetics
o legal and ethical considerations
o sources of images
o sketches
o intended delivery platform
o hardware and software requirements
o graphics processing and editing requirements
o use of compression
o user experience.
 Review the design of the 2D and 3D graphics with at least two
other people to help you identify improvements to the graphics.
 Write a justification of the design decisions you have made when
creating the designs for the 2D and 3D graphics showing how the
designs will result in an effective solution.
 Develop the 2D and 3D graphics following the designs you created
to meet the requirements of the play, using a range of graphic tools
and techniques
 Optimise the 2D and 3D graphics to ensure that the products meet
the client’s brief.
 Evaluate the graphic images you have created using feedback
received and comparing them to the stated requirements. You
should evaluate the effectiveness of the graphic processing and
techniques chosen as part of the design and their impact on the
final products. You should also evaluate the development process
giving reasoned justifications for your choices and why changes
were made.
Your work should be easily understood by a third party and logically
structured. Your use of technical language should be appropriate with a high
standard or written English.

You also need to present evidence that you have shown individual
responsibility, effective time-management in your design and development
of the 2 and 3D models, making high-quality justified recommendations and
decisions. For example, you need to show how you have:
• Planned and managed your time and met targets.
• Reviewed and responded to outcomes including the use of feedback
from others
• Behaved appropriately while completing the assignment – including
professionalism, etiquette, supportive of others, timely and appropriate

Introduction
P3 Produce designs for 2D and 3D digital graphic products to meet the client’s brief.
Target Audience
First and foremost, before I consider starting the development of the assignment, I thought to the extent that
it will be suitable to research the target audience of people who are more likely to attend this event, meaning
I need to make sure the event contains the excitement. After scrutinized research a survey of adults aged 16
to 49 in Great Britain has revealed that over half of those surveyed are likely to make the switch to electric
vehicles within the next ten years. This shift could have a major effect on the UK's ambition to reach net zero
greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In 2019, transport accounted for 27% of the UK's total greenhouse gas
emissions. The OPN survey, which was conducted from 22 September to 3 October 2021, revealed that 44%
of petrol, diesel, and hybrid drivers were either likely to switch or very likely to do so within the next decade.
Hybrid vehicles will be phased out in 2035, with more than 4 out of 10 likely electric vehicle owners expecting
to make the switch within the next five years. This means that my design should be more modern since I am
trying to appeal young minds. The screenshot below shows the demographic chart view of the age group
that are more likely to use low emission vehicles.

The purpose of Digital Graphics

The objective of these two-dimensional and three-dimensional events is to promote the use of electric
vehicles as an eco-friendlier option than those powered by fuel. The goal is to provide individuals with the
opportunity to travel in a more pleasant atmosphere, and the government is open to offering this alternative
for free. I must ensure that the clients perceive the event as informative and eye-catching in order to capture
their attention.
Client Requirements
I recently interned as an IT specialist for a Visual Arts company, tasked with creating two-dimensional and
three-dimensional graphics designs for a government scheme. This project necessitates the creation of a
single backdrop for the 2D graphics design, as well as a single room for displaying the cars and bikes, as
well as providing information on the government schemes. The scheme involves two separate projects, one
of which is for the promotion of E- Vehicles, which are designed to encourage people to switch from high
emission cars to low emission cars in order to reduce emissions.

BTEC Assignment Brief v1.0
BTEC Internal Assessment QDAM January 2015
Intended Platform of delivery
I will be executing my assignment on a at 3D animation app which is called Blender. The reason why I am
using this a is because it is highly suitable and recommended platform for both 3D and 2D animation. It is
having loads of features and possibility of bringing your idea in your head into a reality. The capabilities of
this app are the ability to produce high quality and resolution. I will be mainly suitable for the design because
the massive space you can work with, make it easy for you to move around to develop a much more
immersive work.

Legal and Ethical Consideration

Careful consideration should be given to copyright plans as well as the 1988 Licensing Act in order to take
account of lawful obligations since those controls are aimed at limiting substances that can be used for
planning purposes. Moreover, the Opportunity of Data Act is another legitimate component to take into
account. Consequently, it is fundamental to keep the data accurate, timely and properly disposed of at all
times on the very possible occasion that we are collecting information from clients.

Hardware and Software Requirements

Hardware
In order to render graphics at a high quality, hardware and software factors must be taken into account as
they can affect the appearance of the graphics. To render graphics accurately, a good graphics card must be
able to render them quickly and accurately. Therefore, it is recommended to opt for a mid-range graphic
card, as this will yield the best results. Additionally, the processor and ram are essential components of the
hardware side. Without a good processor, the graphics card will experience a bottleneck, which will prevent it
from utilizing its full potential. Therefore, selecting a processor that balances the graphics card is essential.
RAM is only an important component of the hardware, as if the PC runs out of RAM, it will be unable to store
graphic data, which can lead to stuttering and lag. It is recommended to use at least GB RAM to store this
data.

Software
Software is another aspect that can have an impact on visuals, the software must be up to date because it
can include performance improvements that will allow the graphics card to generate graphics more
effectively. A 3D modelling tool and a 2D modelling tool, such as Blender and canvas, will also be necessary.
The 3D visuals for the car will be created using Blender, and the main environment for the room will be
ROBLOX studio. Canva will be used to create the backdrop design.

The plan
The screenshots below show the rough sketch of both my 2d and 3d design plan.

2D Plan
The screenshot below shows the initiative plan I have done off the bat based on the criteria of the client, the
plan consists of both the backdrop and the floor view of the entire showroom. The plan was a freehand
sketch on an A4 piece of paper. By using a pencil and piece of A4 sheet I was able to produce a plan that
was based according to my understanding of the scenario and criteria from the assignment brief. For
clarification of what I have done below. First, I have illustrated two rectangular shapes and labelled them
“car”, one is horizontal, and the other is vertical, this shows the alignment or position of where the vehicles
are going to be placed when the customers approach the event. Secondly, I have drawn two squares and
labelled them “Car charging port”, I thought it would be great to add those, to help educate the customers on
what power supply their vehicles rely on and also their uses. Finally, I drew two rectangular dashes, which is
labelled car spec panel, which I believe it help educate the customers on the features and capabilities of the
vehicle that they are purchasing. To conclude, for the backdrop, I designed a stylish modern frame, which is
going to aid bring some spotlight on to it.

3D plan
With the collection of a ruler, pencil, right-angled triangled ruler and my hands I put my technical drawing
skills to the test. The drawing below is a 3D isometric view of the plan which was not really drawn according
to scale, but as a representative of how all the assets on the plan are meant to look like. For the car model, I
decided to go for a more simpler and basic look which is the tesla cybertruck made by Elon Musk, the car
model after research goes according to the criteria the client requested. Also note that the space in the room
from the isometric view is far more bigger than you think because like I said it is not drawn to scale but it is
meant to show the layout and alignment of how everything is meant to be. Finally, for the charging port, I

decided to go for a much basic look on the 3D plan but it is going to look different during the development
stage on the software itself.

refinements.
For this part of the assignment, I will be submitting the initial plan to the client in order for them to give me
their thoughts on the plan so far so they can know if I understand what they requested for me to do.
Receiving feedback may play a crucial role in the development stage of the final product. And it may affect or
bring some changes to the initial plan. Feedback is an essential factor in the development of individuals and
organizations, as it provides valuable insight into their strengths and weaknesses, as well as areas for
improvement. It is also a tool for learning and growth, as it helps individuals to understand their strengths and
weaknesses. Additionally, feedback can help to improve communication and foster stronger relationships in
both personal and professional settings. Finally, feedback can increase morale and motivation, as
recognition and recognition of achievements can foster a positive environment. Finally, feedback helps to
align individual goals and organizational objectives, thus contributing to the success of the team or project as
a whole. Finally, regular feedback can lead to increased employee engagement, as it demonstrates that
employees are valued and appreciated.
Review
This screenshot below shows my first review.

The screenshot below shows my second review.

Improvements
After looking through the first feedback provided to me by my clients I have decided to make some
adjustments to my design to make amendments to my mistakes. First decided to change the layout of the
floor plan from one car to two cars on to left side of the room and then I decided to create a round table in the
middle of the room after that created spaces for both the open chassis and the open body of the car at the
right side of the room which makes it a bit more spaced out properly.
As for the second feedback I decided to hop on to Canva and design my own backdrop for the event. The
importance of improvement is widely recognized in all aspects of life, from personal growth to professional
success and societal advancement. Improvement is essential for achieving success in the workplace, as it
allows individuals to acquire new skills, stay up-to-date on industry trends, and refine existing competencies.
Additionally, it encourages innovation and creativity, which can help to drive progress in different fields and
industries. By embracing improvement, individuals are better equipped to cope with uncertainty and thrive in
a dynamic environment.

client’s brief.
Software Usability; I made sure to use the best software for this project which is Blender not only the best but
also easy to manipulate meaning it is much easier to bring all the ideas onto the plate, and also with the use
of this software I am able to produce a high-end graphics and quality design, lastly with the software I was
able be to make good use of the space provided to me in the criteria as the software is provides you with
much bigger space to work with. Blender is an open-source, powerful 3D creation suite that serves a wide
range of applications for our clients in a variety of industries. It is primarily renowned for its advanced 3D
modeling capabilities, animation capabilities, rendering capabilities, and compositing capabilities. Our clients
can use Blender to bring their creative ideas to life with unprecedented flexibility. From architecture to
product design, gaming to film production, and virtual reality to VR, Blender offers a wide range of tools for
creating captivating visualizations and immersive digital experiences. Its user-friendly interface and
comprehensive feature set enable the creation of complex 3D models, real-time animations, and visually
appealing scenes. Furthermore, its open-source nature encourages collaboration between developers and
artists, allowing our clients to benefit from the ongoing improvement of their software. By taking advantage of
Blender's features, our clients can take their projects to the next level, increasing their creative output with
efficiency and innovation.

Hardware Usability: to able to accomplish this task I needed to make sure that my device was capable of
helping me produce quality work for the client, since college computers are not capable of that I decided to
my home computer which most of my work was completed on as it was more modern than the one college
computer. The utilization of Blender's hardware has a major influence on the performance and user
experience of the software. It requires powerful hardware to perform complex tasks efficiently, such as
rendering and simulations. Additionally, RAM and storage are essential for fast and efficient loading times
and data access. With a powerful hardware setup, users will experience faster render times, smoother
viewport interaction, and improved productivity when working on intricate 3D projects. On the other hand,
less powerful hardware can cause performance issues, such as longer render times and limited ability to
handle complex scenes. Ultimately, the use of hardware is essential for the smoothness and responsiveness
of the user experience.

Layout and target audience; since most of the audience was young, I made sure that there were more
spaces for them to move around and explore, and the reason why I decided to make modern touches to the
room to be more captivating for the young minds. The layout and target audience considerations in the
assigned projects align well with the client's brief for promoting greater IT integration in the visual arts
company's productions. The chosen government projects, National e-cycle pilot programme and Low-
emission vehicles eligible for a plug-in grant, are relevant to the company's mission. The client's request for
2D and 3D graphics, particularly focusing on the design of a 3D model for the display space, demonstrates a
commitment to incorporating technology in artistic presentations.

The client's brief is clearly reflected in the directive to create a backdrop or multiple backdrop designs for the
display space, considering the allocated area of 9 meters by 15 meters. The constraint of working within a
specific space highlights the need for efficient use of the available area to convey the essence of the
government projects. The consideration of appropriate materials, props, and divisions for the event suggests
a thoughtful approach to creating an engaging and immersive experience for the audience.

Furthermore, the directive to ensure that visitors can move around the displays and understand the
accessibility of different areas indicates a user-centric approach. This aligns with the client's objective of
encouraging greater interaction and awareness among attendees. By focusing on the design and
development of 3D models, the IT specialist is in a prime position to leverage technology to enhance the
visual impact of the displays and create an immersive experience that aligns with the client's goals.

Justify design decisions for 2D and 3D digital graphics products, showing how
M2
they will provide effective solutions to meet the client’s brief.

Target Audience

14
BTEC Assignment Brief v1.0
BTEC Internal Assessment QDAM January 2015
It is essential to establish a target audience in order to produce digital graphics that satisfy the requirements
of prospective customers. By targeting 18+ active individuals, this event can produce content that resonates
directly with their interests and requirements. A lack of a target audience will make the event more stressful,
as individuals from different age groups have distinct needs and expectations, which will likely make it more
difficult to maintain these needs and expectations and can be extremely time-consuming and expensive.
Therefore, by setting the target, one can focus on a particular age group with the benefits mentioned above.

Design justification
I chose to work on the low-emission e-car project since the modelling process of automobiles and their
endoskeleton phase is more interesting to me. The vehicle I've selected to work on is a Tesla Cyber truck,
which is a hybrid electric car that fits the low-emissions plug-in grant standards. The truck is simple to
assemble because it was previously built with mesh, requiring less labour than low-emission cars such as
Honda Civics.

Backdrop
For the backdrop, I decided it was best to add some sort of frame that looks like stairs going down around it ,
which is meant to make it stand out more since it is meant to be one of the main attractions of the event. As
for the image of the backdrop I designed using Canva because it was easier and more efficient to use.

3D Car model.
I decided it was best to go for the cyber truck as was far easier to design, but to be able to complete this
task I had to watch some YouTube tutorials since I am now on the whole blender software. As for the sketch
of the car I decided to utilize my artistic skills to make it use a mathematical set in isometric view.

Software justification
Blender is a no cost, freely available 3D modelling and animating program that is frequently utilized for a
number of purposes. It is well-known for its complex 3D modelling, animation, rendering, and special effects
skills, as well as its open-source nature, which allows for frequent improvements and abundant online
resources. Blender is also cross-platform compatible, letting users run the software on many platforms.
Given its affordable price and wide features, this open-source plan is currently a popular choice for 3D
artists, designers, creators of games, and users.
For Project A, the National e-cycle pilot programme, a 2D graphics approach would be effective in conveying
the program's message and promoting awareness. Utilizing a combination of vibrant colors and dynamic
imagery, 2D graphics can create visually appealing and easily digestible content for the advertisement
campaign. Infographics displaying statistics on the benefits of e-cycles could be incorporated to convey
information efficiently. The display room can feature large banners with eye-catching illustrations showcasing
the e-cycles in action. This design decision aligns with the goal of the National e-cycle pilot programme to
encourage the use of electric bicycles for sustainable transportation.

On the other hand, Project B, the Low-emission vehicles eligible for a plug-in grant, lends itself well to a 3D
graphics approach. A 3D model of the display space can be created to provide a virtual walkthrough,
allowing viewers to experience the layout and placement of low-emission vehicles. This immersive
experience can be further enhanced with interactive elements, such as touchscreens displaying detailed
information about each vehicle eligible for the plug-in grant. The 3D model can showcase the vehicles in a
realistic setting, highlighting their environmental benefits. Additionally, using 3D graphics allows for the
incorporation of actual vehicle models and accurate representations, enhancing the overall authenticity of the
advertisement campaign.

In both cases, the design decisions are tailored to meet the client's brief and the nature of the projects. The
2D graphics for the e-cycle program focus on simplicity, clarity, and visual appeal to convey the message
effectively. In contrast, the 3D graphics for the plug-in grant project aim to provide an immersive and
interactive experience, aligning with the innovative and technology-driven aspect of low-emission vehicles.
Overall, these design decisions consider the specific goals of each project and leverage the strengths of 2D
and 3D graphics to create compelling visual solutions for the display rooms and advertisement campaigns.

Optimise the 2D and 3D digital graphic products to meet the client’s brief
M3
effectively.
In order to effectively meet the client's brief for the 2D and 3D graphic products for either Project A or Project
B, the use of Blender's optimization features plays a crucial role, particularly in the manipulation of lighting
within the digital environment. Optimizing lighting in Blender is essential for creating visually compelling
graphics, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal and effectively conveying the message of the 'National e-
cycle pilot programme' or the 'Low-emission vehicles eligible for a plug-in grant.'

In the context of the allocated display space of 9 meters by 15 meters, the optimization of lighting in Blender
can be strategically employed to create a visually engaging backdrop for the event. For instance, in a 3D
model designed for the National e-cycle pilot programme, a well-lit environment can accentuate the eco-
friendly aspects of e-cycles. By carefully adjusting the lighting angles and intensities, the textures and details
of the e-cycles can be highlighted, making them more prominent in the display.

Similarly, for the Low-emission vehicles project, optimizing lighting in Blender can be employed to emphasize
the futuristic and environmentally conscious aspects of plug-in vehicles. Subtle yet effective lighting
adjustments can bring out the sleek design of the vehicles, making them visually appealing to the audience.

Moreover, the use of appropriate materials and props within Blender is essential to enhance the overall
immersive experience for visitors. For instance, in a 3D model of the display space, realistic materials can be
applied to simulate the textures of eco-friendly materials or the high-tech surfaces of plug-in vehicles. Props
such as information kiosks or interactive displays can be strategically placed to guide visitors and provide
information about accessible areas.

In considering divisions for the event, Blender's 3D modeling capabilities can be utilized to create visually
distinct sections within the allocated space. This allows for a seamless flow of visitors while effectively
demarcating different aspects of the National e-cycle pilot programme or the Low-emission vehicles project.

In conclusion, the optimization of lighting in Blender, along with the thoughtful use of materials, props, and
divisions, will contribute to the creation of a visually stunning and informative 3D model for the display space.
This approach aligns with the client's brief, ensuring that visitors can easily navigate the event, understand
the accessible areas, and appreciate the key features of the National e-cycle pilot programme or the Low-
emission vehicles project.

Alignment with Space Requirements: In terms of utilization of space, the 2D and 3D designs fit the client's
requirements. The space of twenty feet by 15 meters has been used exactly as stated, and the decision to
use a revolving door at the entrance includes a touch of authority and elegance, in line with the governmental
initiative's desired image, which would help keep up the expectations of the government as people anticipate
a lot from the body who controls the country's actions. Also, the choice of software used was Blender

attractions of the event. As for the image of the backdrop I designed using Canva because it was easier and
more efficient to use. And the theme of the image was the to match the purpose of the event. Other
alternative app for Canva is Ink space as it is free and open-source vector graphics editor that lets you
create, edit and transform vector graphics. Accessibility and Flow: The designs are effective in maintaining a
consistent flow for event attendees. The designs' layout provides for simple navigation around the area, with
the rotating entrance functioning as a starting point, directing spectators into the conference space as they
enter the room.
To effectively evaluate the 2D and 3D digital graphics product designs for either Project A or Project B, it is
crucial to align the creations with the respective client briefs for the 'National e-cycle pilot programme' and
'Low-emission vehicles eligible for a plug-in grant.' For Project A, the National e-cycle initiative, the graphics
should emphasize the eco-friendly nature of e-cycles, possibly incorporating vibrant visuals of cycling
landscapes and digital representations of the e-cycle models specified in the government documentation.
The 3D model for the display space, considering the allocated 9 meters by 15 meters area, should
strategically position backdrops showcasing the e-cycles, utilizing materials that convey sustainability and
perhaps incorporating virtual or augmented reality elements for an interactive experience. Prop divisions can
be used to guide visitors through different thematic sections, making them aware of the accessible areas and
creating an engaging journey.

For Project B, promoting low-emission vehicles eligible for a plug-in grant, the graphics should focus on
conveying the environmental benefits of plug-in vehicles. The 3D model design within the 9 meters by 15
meters space can incorporate backdrops featuring sleek and modern electric vehicles against green
landscapes or urban settings to highlight the clean and sustainable aspects. Materials chosen for the display
should echo the futuristic and eco-conscious themes, and props such as charging stations or interactive
displays can be strategically placed to draw attention. Division of the space can be used intelligently to guide
visitors, ensuring they are aware of the areas they can explore and interact with.

In evaluating the designs against the client's briefs, it's essential to consider the effectiveness of the graphics
in communicating the key messages of each government project. The backdrop designs should align with
the visual identity of the respective initiatives, using appropriate color schemes and imagery. Additionally, the
use of materials, props, and divisions should contribute to a seamless and immersive experience for visitors,
allowing them to navigate through the displays while gaining awareness of the key features and benefits of
the showcased products. Ultimately, the success of the 2D and 3D graphics will be measured by their ability
to effectively convey the government projects' messages and engage the audience in a visually compelling
manner.

Demonstrate individual responsibility, creativity and effective self-management in

D3
the design, development and review of digital graphic products.

To effectively manage the design, development, and review of the 3D model for the display
space of the chosen government project, a Gantt chart can be instrumental in organizing tasks
and timelines. Firstly, individual responsibility will be demonstrated by breaking down the
project into specific tasks, such as researching the government program, conceptualizing
design ideas, creating 2D sketches, and implementing the 3D model. Each task will be
assigned to the team members based on their strengths and expertise, promoting a sense of
ownership and accountability.

Creativity will be infused into the process by allowing team members to brainstorm and ideate
on various backdrop designs that align with the theme of the National e-cycle pilot programme

or Low-emission vehicles eligible for a plug-in grant. By encouraging diverse perspectives, the
team can develop innovative and visually appealing concepts that effectively convey the
message of the government initiative. The Gantt chart will incorporate dedicated time slots for
creative sessions, ensuring that creativity is not rushed but given the necessary space to
flourish.

Effectiveness in using the Gantt chart will be demonstrated through meticulous planning and
scheduling. The chart will outline specific milestones, such as completing the initial design
sketches, creating a detailed 3D model, selecting appropriate materials and props, and
conducting internal reviews. Regular review sessions will be scheduled to assess progress and
make necessary adjustments, ensuring that the project stays on track and meets the
deadlines.

In terms of self-management, each team member will take ownership of their assigned tasks,
managing their time effectively to meet the outlined deadlines. The Gantt chart will serve as a
visual guide, helping individuals prioritize tasks and allocate time efficiently. Additionally,
constant communication within the team will facilitate collaboration, allowing for the seamless
integration of individual contributions into a cohesive and impactful 3D model.

In conclusion, the use of a Gantt chart, coupled with individual responsibility, creativity, and
effective self-management, will streamline the design, development, and review process of the
3D model for the government project's display space. This approach ensures a well-
coordinated effort that not only meets the project requirements but also fosters a creative and
collaborative work environment.
