Solid, Geometry, Cleanup command

f Use the Advanced button to set

individual Cleaning, Small
Feature, Geometry
Simplification, Edge Heal, and
Surface Heal and Stitch options.
f Messages window will list IDs of
problem surfaces and curves

Note: This operation may remove any surface curves,

curve divisions, etc. In addition, if this operation
results in a change to the solid(s), mesh sizing will
need to be reapplied.

Feature Suppression

f Physically remove features with the Geometry, Solid,

Remove Face command.
f Select faces that form a continuous set of faces

f Use the Mesh, Mesh Control, Feature Suppression

command to manually remove sliver surfaces.

Advanced Femap Training 6
Geometry, Boundary Surface,
From Surfaces on Solid command

f Takes the surfaces you select, and uses the enclosing

outer curves to form a regular boundary surface.
f The surfaces must be able to be stitched into a solid.
f This feature works best with surfaces that have small
to moderate curvature.
f Can be used to remove sliver surfaces by selecting
surfaces that surround the sliver.

Advanced Femap Training 7
Midplane Meshing

f Femap’s automatic
midplane extraction
creates separate sheet
solids for all midplane
surfaces.
f Use the Geometry,
Solid, Stitch command to
create a single sheet
solid
f Makes surface/curve
mesh sizing easier
and creates
coincident meshes
on the edges of the
surfaces.

Advanced Femap Training 8
Femap Surface Remesh API program

f Allows interactive remeshing of triangular surfaces by applying:

f Surface refinement Growth Factor

f Modifying the Approach on Surface technique

f Increasing/decreasing number of elements on an edge

f Run the compiled API script

femap\api\Surface Remesh\
FEMAP Surface Remesh.exe
f Access easily via the
