HOMEWORK
-2nd semester-

1. Are you generally optimistic or pessimistic about how technology will affect our working lives
and leisure in the future? What might the positive and negative changes be?
FLORIN: Since ages, technologies have been known for changing lives for good and making work process
simpler for us. The impact of technology on our life is integrating rapidly. This technology expansion has raised
the concern that it can replace various jobs of the unskilled employ that are not much aware with the recent
technological changes.
I must say that, among my friends, there are some conservative thinkers who consider that with the
technological development the labor market will decrease drastically and will be replaced by a machine,
creating unemployment due to technology.
In my opinion, there are some positive impacts of technology on unemployment! I truly believe that
development of technology has a great impact in the workplace with increased productivity, efficiency,
performance and at the same time eliminating the risk and human errors. The key points targeting the impact of
technology on employment might be:
Creating skilled jobs: Technology is creating a job for skilled workers that can empower themselves according
to the complex world.
Easy communication: Once used telephone and fax are now replacing tablet and laptops for communication
purpose in the workplace
Improve performance and accuracy: Technology makes work process computerized which can reduce risk
and error while improving performance.
Increased salaries: An increase in demand for skilled workers of higher wages has boosted high paying jobs in
industries.
More production creates more jobs: We often assume that with productivity job decreases but, the truth is
highly productive companies offers more job and pay a better.
Increase work profile: When we draw a relation between technology vs unemployment. Technology has
generated various new work profile in software, IT and AI field for experts.

I think that technology has made various positive changes in fields like medical, agriculture, education,
industry and many more and now it’s a great time for us to join hand with it and move forward towards
innovating tomorrow.
So, I am very optimistic about the way technology will improve our lives in the future!

2. What are the present trends in technology and its use? Which might continue, and which
might change?

FLORIN: Nowadays, we are dealing with an exponential increase in computer use worldwide followed by a
similar expansion of mobile phone ownership. Technological advances in those technologies have had a major
impact on the way we use technology in our lives, including the way we spend our leisure time.
As computer use migrated from work to home environment it was paralleled by technological advances
in functionality and information access through the internet. Increased accessibility of data extended computer
use beyond the business and gaming sectors.
Much like cell phones are now capable of doing more than making calls, cars can do much more than
drive and park. In recent years, the automotive industry has worked hand-in-hand with major technology
companies in order to deliver the most advanced, safest and most comfortable vehicles out there.
Cars are becoming large smart devices with advanced emergency braking capabilities, mapping
technology for autonomous driving, better fuel efficiency and cars as a service as a form of transportation.
If we are talking about the future of technology in the automotive industry, we have noticed that some of
the greatest minds in the tech industry have joined forces with automotive companies in order to improve the
way our vehicles operate these days. The rise of electric vehicle technology is helping to reduce carbon
emissions without breaking the bank as more companies are designing cars with electric motors.
There are no shortages of ways in which cars are improving the lives of drivers and other vehicles around
them in terms of safety, getting from point A to point B with less of a hassle and entertaining us throughout the
process. In the coming years, the automotive industry is expected to progress even further, taking us one step
closer to more connected and digitized environment.
It is my belief that these changes will continue and that they will have a major impact on our lives.
So, this is high time to work in technological jobs, to be at the forefront of technology and innovation!

3. What recent invention or piece of technology will have the most impact on our lives, do you think?

FLORIN: As I said above, a technological tsunami has been upturning the automotive industry over the last decade.
Traditional patterns have been exploding as the digital revolution leads to reinventing all the hardware and software
architecture on vehicles. It may well be that in a few years’ time, a car will look nothing like it does today.
The car of the future is well and truly on its way! Here are its main features:

The electric car: Electric was the first phenomenon to transform cars. When it was first introduced, experts envisaged a
specific use – for public transport for example. Beating the predictions, electric cars are slowly emerging as a must-have
in all the market segments. It now has numerous technological advantages and its alleged historical weaknesses, such as
autonomy (600 km for the latest Tesla for example) or road performance, no longer apply. This trend has been greatly
reinforced by environmental obligations to reduce particle and greenhouse gas emissions. In the years ahead, increasingly
powerful hybrid or electric engines will gradually replace the traditional internal combustion engine.
The autonomous car: It is the most spectacular revolution. The first two stages have already been completed.
Cruise control has existed for several years: drivers can set a cruising speed and remove their feet from the pedals. And
some cars now offer driver assistance systems that make it possible to remove the hands from the wheel in specific
situations such as in traffic jams, or when parking, etc. Engineers are working to replace human eyes with a multitude of
cameras, sensors and lasers that will reproduce the environment in 3D and allow the vehicle to make navigation decisions
alone.
Recent invention reflect the idea that in a few years we will shake hands with the car of the future built according
to a new model, will be electric, autonomous and connected.
To conclude, it will bring a number of benefits to society: less pollution, more safety, more free time and services.
A paradigm revolution: cars will perhaps offer less pleasure driving on the open road but will offer real transport, safety
and connectivity services. Many challenges lie ahead of course – technological, industrial and legislative – but the
transition is already well on its way and the phenomenon will accelerate in the coming years. Many players are opting in
to the adventure: manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, service providers, telecom operators, web giants, etc. It’s a real
challenge for the automotive industry.
Cars have always been my passion, so I am really keen on what is new, innovative and challenging about them!
