 .Relate characteristics of light such as color and
intensity to frequency and wavelength.
Learning Competencies / Objectives (S7LT-IIIg-11)
Write the LC code for each  Infer that light travels in a straight line.
Objective:
1. Design an experiment which shows that light travels in a
straight line.

Module No. 1

IV. PROCEDURES

A.
(The teacher will present the primary colors and will as the
learners those colors)
ELICIT 1. What are the primary colors of light? What are the
secondary colors of light?
2. Describe the frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum.

B. ENGAGE Let the students answer these riddles:

1. There is a thing which is nothing,
Yet it has a name,
It’s sometimes tall and sometimes short,
It tumbles when we fall,
It plays our games.
What is it?
2. I’m your followers in the light,
Yet I’m invisibles in the night,
At various sizes I appear
I won’t harm you, have no fear
What am I?

Answers: shadow
C.
Activity 4: Light up straight!

General Instructions
1. Given the materials design a 5-6 step procedure to test that
ENGAGE
light follows a straight line or not.
2. Remember that you are only allowed to use the materials
specified in this particular activity.
3. Check the rubric scoring for your guide.

D.
  A. Group reporting and presentation of outputs.
B. Analysis and Discussion.

1. What is the experiment / activity all about?
2. What is your task/problem?
EXPLAIN 3. How did you solve your problem?
4. What did you find out after doing your task?
5. Were you able to utilize all the materials?
6. Were you able to prove in your designed activity that
light travel in a straight line?
7. What is a proof that light travels in a straight line?

E. ELABORATE
Children are most of the times afraid of shadows. Aside from
proving that light travels in a straight line, shadows have
uses / application also.
Some uses of shadows are as follows:
1. In mathematics we can find the height of a certain objects
by its angle of elevation or depression with the help of
shadow.
2. Shadows play an important role during lunar and solar
eclipse.
3. We can tell the approximate time of the day through the
position and length of our shadow
4. In photography and arts, one of the most common uses of
shadows is for revealing form.

5. Similar to revealing form, shadows can be used to reveal

textures.
6. Perhaps, one of the most powerful uses of shadows is for
the creation of contrast to produce dramatic effect .

H. Making generalizations and abstractions 1. How do light waves travels?

about the lesson 2. What is a proof that light travels in a straight line?
