VACANCY – Community Coordinator

LOCATION- Lilongwe
START DATE – 03/02/2020

Background and Purpose

Tingathe seeks to catalyze socio economic growth in partnership with young people who have dropped out
of school and are unemployed, a population often overlooked by youth development projects particularly
in peri- urban zones. These young people have great need for the skills Tingathe offers, yet we are one of
the only service providers in the area. In contrast to larger projects run by other NGOs, Tingathe has been
implementing its programmes in Mtandire for the initial phase and has since last year extended the impact
area across Lilongwe and into other districts of the country. Tingathe is a product of the response to a need
for entrepreneurship and life skills training and access to skills that boost employability expressed by the
vulnerable young people themselves. Our focus on the creation of networks and value chains also serves
to connect Tingathe youth to numerous opportunities, access to business networks and markets as well as
access to micro loans and seed grants.

Tingathe is an entrepreneurship and life skills training focused organization that prepares young people to
take on various forms of employment or to create entrepreneurship opportunities for themselves and
others that capitalize on their skills and interests. In our technical training, we have worked to build
relationships with private sector employers and are able to offer participants a variety of different
opportunities for internships and apprenticeship as well as post programme employment. Our
Rehabilitation programme is designed to prepare youths that are facing challenges surrounding drug and
alcohol addiction, depression and other challenges that affect their mental and physical health. This
programme is designed to help particularly challenged youth to reach a state where they can then benefit
from specific training programmes.
