Role Model “Shakira”

Shakira is a famous Colombian singer, dancer, and composer. She was born in 1977 in

Barranquilla Atlántico, Colombia, it is Lebanese too. She honors both her Latino and Arabic

heritage in her music. She wrote her first song at the age of 8 and signed her first record deal

at 13.

On another hand, she has won multiple Grammy, Latin Grammy, and American

music awards but she is more than these awards. She is a person with a big heart, values,

purposes but above all a normal person with family and life. Shakira has two children, Milan

and Sasha, her husband is Gerard Piqué a famous football player in Barcelona. Another

important thing about Shakira is that she is a philanthropy UNICEF named it “Goodwill

ambassador” also she founded “Pies Descalzos” and was honored by the United Nations

International labor organization for her philanthropic efforts in 2010.

Shakira is a good role model because her philanthropic behavior shows that. She is

the founder of “Pies descalzos” this foundation work in favor of the education in less-favored

areas. This foundation has six mega colleges around Colombia and she has the intention of

opening more schools. Moreover, they give psychological support to good education and

integral learning.

In spite of this, many people think and sais that Shakira makes this thing only for

fame and avoids taxes. The news a while ago only talks about how Shakira doesn’t pay taxes

in Spain and Colombia but they don’t have the support of that and never confirmed this

information.
 All people say many things but if you don’t have how supporting your positions you

lose validity.

I don’t want to risk being valued by what I say, but for my is better to avoid taxes and

don’t give money to the corruption but give other opportunities for the poor family, another

way, and other vision of life. Shakira with “Pies descalzos” gives another way to make the

things, is not only academic formation is more than that. I hope to find more people with this

thinking and love for the others.

Shakira is an example of Colombian culture and intelligence in this country and she

shows thins in every performance that she makes around the world. She is an example of the

great talent that our country is capably exporting.

She includes Colombian rhythms in her songs like vallenato, cumbia, bolero, and

reggaeton, also she orbits around all musicals styles like rock, reggae, etc. The music that

Shakira produces is dynamic a different one of another. She enjoys producing her music and

prepare her shows. This action shows how many intelligent and how is it delivered with her

carrier.

However the people say that Shakira like other singers or idols is only producing, that

is “arranged artist” that she without dancers, lights, costume and many other things it's

nobody. Other people say that she forgot Colombia, she lives in another country, she

speaking with spains accents, she doesn't visit regularly where she born and grew up.

I don't believe that I would say that Shakira is one of the best artists that Colombia

have and she is proud of this. For example, in the super bowl, her show has all thing to

Colombia, like salsa, Carnaval, and champeta. With this show maybe the people from other

countries have a curiosity to knows our rhythms and culture in all its expressions.
 Finally for my Shakira is not an “arranged artist” she is authentic, simple, and

intelligent. Few artist worries for giving a good show with talent integral but Shakira care for

all, she plays instruments write her songs and sings in different languages only to give the

best for her fans.
