The serpentine’s family should lean heavily upon Southern Gothic

aesthetics and themes: baroque families, fallen glory, incestuous internal
politics, grotesquery, racial tension, and horrific violence.

The members of The Serpentine’s family want to regain their former

glory at any costs, but don’t understand how to best accomplish their
goals. Occasionally have them demand that the PC carry out self-
destructive tasks that will ultimately hinder the family. Then the player
will be forced to make an interesting decision: obey the family’s rules, or
serve the family’s best interests.

Use provocative questions to highlight the ways in which The Serpentine

doesn’t fit in and doesn’t understand the inner workings of human
society.

The Serpentine can abandon their family and join a new one, as part of
their Darkest Self’s escape clause. If this happens, it’s important that
their new family be fraught with incestuous internal politics and self-
destructive behavior. Get them to circle a different former glory for this
new family.
