Introduction

Translation is described as “the replacement of textual material in one language by equivalent textual

material in another language [ CITATION Sch08 \l 1033 ]. But it is not like that, it is not only the replacement

of a word by another. There are different things that can be taken into consideration; like is it always applicable

to use nouns for nouns or verb for verbs? Some languages use a verb to express a noun and vice versa. Writing

that contains mostly short, simple sentences can be uninteresting or even irritating to read. Writing that consists

of mostly long, complex sentences are usually difficult to read. Good writers, therefore, use variety of sentences

types.

Furthermore, the aims and challenges of this study are in chapter one and most things which are related to

complex structure are elucidated in chapter two like types of sentences, clauses and subordinator. It will also

explain what is phrase and clause. Also, this paper will utterly depend on a survey to find out the difficulties in

translating complex sentences and which strategies, methods to use, this will be on chapter three. Furthermore,

chapter four will be the conclusion. And, this paper will reveal difficulties, problems, and challenges while

translating English complex sentences into Kurdish Language. In addition to that it is not enough to use only

simple, compound or complex sentence we have to change the structure as it needs, “Too many long sentences,

one after the other make for heavy reading. Too many short one in a row make the text “choppy” and boring.”

[ CITATION Len03 \l 1033 ].

Chapter 1

1.1 The aims

This paper aims to answer some crucial questions that must be mastered in order to translate complex

sentences. For example, what makes complex sentences difficult to translate or challenging? If it is challenging

and difficult what are the ways to solve it? So our aim is obvious. It is to guide and show you that complex

sentences are not as difficult and arduous as it seems. It needs some steps (strategies, approaches) to overcome

~1~
it. Further, another significant aim is to analyze and clarify how to translate different types of Adverbs and

clauses. This paper brings these text types that complex sentences have used in. Also three different types of

text have translated into Kurdish in this study. Mastering complex sentences is very important because if one

knows complex sentences well one could easily observe compound and simple sentences which is the core of

English language. So this paper will guides how to deal with English complex sentences while translating it into

Kurdish Language.

In addition, this study will instruct you to use appropriate methods and techniques to analyze and

translate complex structure. As mentioned in the introduction we made a survey to find all of these. The

survey is done by more than ten participants both professional and laymen. Above all the most momentous

question will be answered such as; are all subordinate different? In English they are, but in Kurdish

language do they differ? This study will illustrate that most often subordinators will be translated as a

specific word (in Kurdish) no matter what they are.

1.2 The challenges

It is really challenging that in Kurdish language we have two subordinators in a complex sentence

which is called ((‫ ڕستە ی ئالۆز‬while in English we have just one and it will be ungrammatical and inaccurate

if we have more than one in a complex sentence. This is a challenge that Translator must master it. Another

challenge is to differentiate between coordinator that could be used as subordinator for instance (but) for

(although) and (so) for (so that). Beside, another challenge that Kurdish translators have to overwhelm is

translating Non-finite clause specifically (ing and ed participle) that they should add special words in order

to complete the translation. Further challenges, when translating into Kurdish which part to translate first

dependent clause or independent clause, this paper will answer these questions. And other things will be

clarified like how to translate subordinator and its types, for example this research has discovered that most

subordinator will be translated as (‫ )کە‬in Kurdish.

~2~
Moreover, it is also challenging that there are more than one way to translate a same text.

Additionally, Kurdish Translator could take into consideration that Adverb Clauses can be anywhere in a

sentences but it is desirable to be put first or before the independent clause which is quite opposite in

English complex structure, this paper will illustrate that. And what strategies, style, approaches and

procedures to use is a challenge over all.

The last but not least in which kinds of texts we can find complex sentences? This paper will guide

you through all of these.

Chapter 2

2.1 Types of Sentences

Before writing types of sentences, one has to know what is a sentence and its definition. C. E. Eckersley

and J. M. Eckersley have defined a sentence as “An oral or written communication is made up of one or more

units, each of which contains a complete utterance formed according to a definite pattern. Such units are called

sentences.”(1980, p.317).

 Sentence types; one way to categorize sentences is by the clause they contain. This paper will later

clarify clauses and its types but for now a clause is, a part of sentence containing a subject and a

predicate[ CITATION Pau15 \l 1033 ].Here are the four types of sentences:

 Simple: A simple sentence contains a single, independent clause.

o I do not like dogs. ‫حەزم لە سەگ نیە‬

 Compound: A compound sentence contains two independent clauses that are joined by coordinating

conjunctions. (Common coordinating conjunctions are: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. they can be

memorized as (FANBOYS).

o I do not like dogs, and my sister does not like cats. ‫من حەزم لە سەگ نیە وە خوشکەکەشم پشیلە‬

~3~
 Complex: A complex sentence contains and independent clause plus one or more dependent clauses. (A

dependent clause starts with a subordinating conjunctions which with be further clarified and analyzed

later. Examples of subordinating conjunctions: that, because, while, when, although, where, if)

o I do not like dogs that bark at me when I go past. ‫حەزم لەو سەگانە نیە کە پێم دەوەڕن کاتێک بە الیاندا دەڕۆم‬.

 Compound-complex: Compound - complex sentences contain three or more than three clauses (of which

at least two are independent and one is dependent).

o I do not like dogs, and my sister does not like cats because they make her sneeze. ‫من حەزم لە سەگ‬

‫نیە وە خوشکەکەشم پشیلە لەبەر ئەوەی حەساسیەتی پژمینی پێیان هەیە‬.

2.2 The complex sentences

The complex sentence as described before consists of one main (independent) clause and one or more

subordinating (dependent) clause. The subordinate clause modifies a word in the main clause or superordinate

clause. [ CITATION The14 \l 1033 ]

o After Dan studies, he often watches Television. ‫زۆربەی کات دان سەیری تەلەفزیۆن دەکات پاش ئەوەی‬

‫سەعیەکانی تەواو دەکات‬. (Subordinate clause modifies “watches)

Complex sentences used almost in any kinds of texts especially in (legal, literature and grammar). And,

action, horror, self-help, romance books. Also, school books such as science and history.

Now it is the time to go deeper to the units that complex sentences are made of such as clauses and

subordinating conjunctions.

2.3 Subordinator (subordinating conjunction)

Subordinators are the most important formal device of subordination, particularly for finite clauses. Like

prepositions, which they resemble in having a relating function, Subordinator forming the core of the class

consist of a single word, but there is a large range of multi-word subordinator which function, to a varying

degree, like a single conjunction. In addition, there is a small group of correlative subordinator, which combine

~4~
two markers of subordination, one being a subordinator. This was defined by [CITATION Sid90 \p 288 \l

1033 ]

The most common subordinating conjunctions are {that, when, where, while, before, until, if, after, since,

because, (al) though, unless, as}. [CITATION CEE80 \p 312 \l 1033 ]

2.3.1 Single-word subordinator

{After, although, as, before, because, directly <informal, esp. BrE>, for, if, immediately<informal esp.

where, whereas, whereupon, wherever, while, whilst<esp. BrE>} [CITATION Sid90 \p 288 \l 1033 ]

2.3.2 Multi-word subordinators

 Ending with that: but that, in that, in order that, insofar that<informal, rare> in the event that, save

that<literary> such that.

 Ending with optional that:

o Participle form: assuming, considering, excepting, given, granted, granting, provided, providing,

seeing, supposing.

o Others: except, for all, now, so.

 Ending with as: according as, as far as, as long as, as soon as, forasmuch as<formal>, inasmuch

as<formal>, insofar as, insomuch as<formal>.

 Others: as if, as though, in case.

[ CITATION Ras09 \l 1033 ]

2.4 Clauses

Since complex sentences made up of clauses we have not to mix them with phrases. “A phrase can consist

of just one word, but usually it will contain more than one. The most important about point phrases is that they

do not include verbs that can change according to the time reference and in many cases they do not have a

subject either. Unlike clauses, they never stand alone as sentences.” [ CITATION Phr15 \l 1033 ] Clauses are a

group of related words containing at least a predicate, and a subject. English has two types of Clauses:

1. Independent (main) clauses contain both a subject and a verb and can stand alone as a sentence.

Example:

 Jet lag affects most long distance travelers. ‫جێت الگ (هەست کردن بە گێژی و دڵ تێکەڵهاتن) کار لە زۆرێک‬

‫لەو گەشتیارانە دەکات کە ماوەیەکی زۆر لە فڕۆکەدا دەمێننەوە‬.

2. Dependent (subordinate) clauses contain both a subject and a verb, but cannot stand alone as a sentence.

Dependent clauses are introduced by subordinating conjunctions such as: because, what, if and etc.

 Although there is no sure way to prevent jet lag. ‫لەگەڵ ئەوەی رێگەیەکی دیاری کراو نییە بۆ ڕێگرتن لە هە‬

)‫ [“ ست کردن بە (جێت الگ‬CITATION Wha14 \l 1033 ]

2.4.1 Types of clauses

English has two types of clauses which are {Finite and non-finite}

1. Finite clause: a clause whose verb is finite and always contains a subject as well as a predicate,

except in the case of command and ellipsis (omission).

~7~
 I cannot go out with you because I am studying this evening. ‫ناتوانم ئەم ئێوارەیە بێمە دەرەوە لەگەڵت لەبەر‬

‫ئەوەی سەعی دەکەم‬.

2. Non-finite: A clause whose verb element is non-finite verb. They are usually without a subject;

there are four kinds of non-finite clause in English.

A. Infinitive with to/ to-infinitive :

I. Without subject: the best thing would be to tell everybody. ‫باشترین شت ئەوەیە بە‬

‫هەمویان بڵێین‬.

II. With subject: the best thing would be for you to tell everybody ‫باشترین شت بۆتۆ ئەوەیە‬

‫کە بە هەمویان بڵێی‬.

B. Infinitive without to/ bare infinitive:

I. Without subject: all I did was hit him on the head.‫ئەوەی کردم لێدان بو لە سەری‬

II. With subject: rather than John do [sic] it, I would prefer to give the job to Mary. ‫لەجیاتی‬

‫جۆن حەزەکەم کارەکە بدەم بە ماری‬.

C. Ing participle:

I. Without subject: leaving the room, he tripped over the mat. ‫کاتێک ژورەکەی بە جێهێشت‬

‫لەسەر نوکی پێ بەسەر ڕاخەرەکەدا ڕۆی‬.

II. With subject: her aunt having left the room, I declared my passionate love for

Celia. ‫کاتێک نەنکی ژورەکەی جێهێشت هەست و سۆزو خۆشەویستی خۆم بۆ سیلیا دەربری‬

D. Ed participle:

I. Without subject: covered with confusion, I left the room ‫ ژورەکەم‬.‫لە جەنجاڵیەکی تەواودا‬

‫جێهێشت‬.

II. We left the room and went home, the job finished. ‫کاتێک کارەکە تەواو بو ژوورەکەمان‬

‫جێهێشت و چوینەوە ماڵەوە‬. [CITATION RQu73 \p 310 \l 1033 ]

As it is shown in Non-finite (ing and ed participle) it has added the word ‫ ))کاتێک‬when translating (ing

and ed) participle.

~8~
2.5 Types of subordinate clauses

Clauses, as found out, can be coordinated with each other, so that the sentence consists of a set of

conjuncts. A clause can also serve other grammatical functions inside another clause: A clause which serves a

grammatical function (other than conjuncts) inside another clause is called subordinate clause. [ CITATION

Sub14 \l 1033 ] Subordinate clauses modify: nouns, verbs, and subjects or an object of a verb, so they are

either: Adj. clauses, Adv. Clauses or noun clauses. [CITATION CEE80 \p 324 \l 1033 ] Now it will talk about

these three types of subordinate clause in detail.

1) Adj. (Attributive or Relative clause): they qualify nouns (antecedents). Adj. clause are introduced by

relative pronouns, which are (wh. words, that). We have two kinds of Relative clause:

A. Defining (restrictive) clause: Defines specific antecedent. They are not extra information and if removed the

sentence does not make sense. NB/ commas are not used with this type.

 I have never met anyone who can type as fast as you can. [CITATION Ale98 \p

14 \l 1033 ] ‫هیچ کەسێکم نەدیوە کە بتوانێ وەکو تۆ بە خێرای چاپ بکات‬.

 The house that I would like to buy is not for sale. ‫ئەو خانووەی کە حەزدەکەم بیکڕم بۆ‬

‫فرۆشتن نیە‬.

 The place where Macbeth met the witches was a desolate heath. ‫ئەو شوێنەی کە ماکبێس‬

‫جادوگەرەکانی لێبینی دەشتێکی چۆڵ بوو‬.

 The book which you lent me was interesting.‫ئەو کتێبەی کە تۆ پێت بەخشیم زۆر خۆشبوو‬.

 I remember the day when she first wore that pink dress. ‫ئەو ڕۆژەم لە بیرە کە بۆیەکەم جار‬

‫ئەو جلە پەمەییەی لەبەر کرد‬.

B. Non-defining clause: if they are removed there will be no problem because they are extra information. NB/

commas are used in this type.

 That scientist, whose work is very important, has been made a knight. .

[CITATION CEE80 \p 325 \l 1033 ].‫ئەو زانایەی کە کرا بە سوارچاک کارەکەی زۆر گرنگە‬.

~9~
 Miss Smith, whom you met at our house, is going to marry Mr. Abbot. ‫خاتو سمس ئەو‬

‫خاتونەی کە لەمالی ئێمە بینیت شوو بە کاک ئەبۆت دەکات‬.

 My father, who had been on a visit to America, arrived at Southampton yesterday.

‫باوکم کە گەشتی کردبو بۆ ئەمریکا دوێنێ گەشتەوە ساوسهامپتۆن‬

After these translations it is quite obvious that in relative clause it almost always needs ( ‫ )کە‬when

translated into Kurdish except for (why): I know the reason why he was so angry. ‫ئەزانم بۆچی ئەو وا تورە بوو‬.

2) Noun clause: the different between noun clause and Adj. clause is that most often Adj. clause comes in

the second part of a sentence while noun phrases come first[CITATION CEE80 \p 333 \l 1033 ]. And

the same noun clause can be:

 Noun clause: Tell me where you went.‫پیم بڵێ چویت بۆ کوێ‬

 Adj. clause: I am going to the house where you went. ‫دەچم بۆ ئەو خانووەی کە تۆ رۆشتی‬.

 Adv. Clause: I am going where you went. ‫دەچم بۆ ئەو شوێنەی کە تۆ ڕۆشتی‬

Some other example of noun clause:

 George said that he was pleased to welcome our Italian friends. ‫جۆرج وتی کە ئەو دڵخۆشە بە پێشوازیکردنی‬

‫هاورێ ئیتالیەکانمان‬.

 What you are doing seems very difficult. ‫ئەوەی تۆ دەیکەیت زۆر قورس دیارە‬

 The news that we are having a holiday is not true. ‫ئەو هەواڵەی کە گوایە بەیانی پشووە راست نیە‬

3) Adv. Clause: They have the role of Adv. /Adjuncts they are: manner, time, place, frequency.

 As soon as the green knight entered the room, all were astonished. [CITATION

Tul90 \p 4 \l 1033 ] ‫هەرکە سوارچاکە سەوەزەکە چووە ژورەوە هەمویان سەرسام بوون‬.

Types of adverbs:

~ 10 ~
1. Adv. of manner:

 Henry did the work as it ought to be done. ‫هێنری بەو شێوەیە کارەکەی کرد کە پێویست بوو‬

 When I get the money I shall spend it as I like it. ‫کاتێک پارەکەم دەست کەوت ئە وا بەو جۆرە خەرجی‬

‫دەکەم کە خۆم دەمەوێ‬.

 I shall do the exercises as I have been taught.‫دەبێ بەو شێوازە راهێنانەکان بکەم کە پێم وتراوە‬

Thus, in translating Adv. of manner these words (‫ بەم ڕێگەیە‬،‫ بەم شێوەیە‬،‫ بەم جۆرە‬،‫ )بەم شێوازە‬are used.

2. Adv. of place:

 Stay where you are. )‫لەشوێنی خۆت نەجوڵێی(بۆستە‬

 I will go wherever you go. ‫بۆهەرشوێنێک بڕۆی دەڕۆم بۆ ئەوێ‬

 I keep running into Sally everywhere! ‫لە هەموو شوێنێک توشی سالی ئەبم‬

 I have nowhere to go. ‫هیچ شوێنێکم نیە بۆی بڕۆم‬

As it is perceived in Kurdish translation it is better to put Adv. of place first.

3. Adv. of time:

 When it rains, I usually go to office by bus. ‫بەگشتی لە کاتی باراندا بە پاس دەڕۆم بۆ نوسینگە‬

 I learned a lot of French while I was in Paris. ‫کاتێک لە فەرەنسا بوم زۆر شتی زمانی فەرەنسی فێربوم‬.

 I like perfect quietness when I am working. ‫کاتێک ئیش دەکەم حەز بە ئارامییەکی تەواو دەکەم‬

As like Adv. of place it is most often better to state the Adv. of time first than the independent clause.

Chapter 3

3.1 The research methodology

There are basically two kinds of methods to approach a research paper which are quantitative and

qualitative methods. This paper chose quantitative methods which includes surveys and questionnaire.

~ 11 ~
Quantitative research is “a type of research that is explaining phenomena by collecting numerical data that are

analyzed using mathematically based methods (in particular statistics).” [ CITATION Suk07 \l 1033 ]. Even

though the survey has lots of mistranslations in a lexical level it is still valuable and regarded, since our paper is

about “complex sentences” not lexical items.

Moreover, the survey is an article taken from “YAHOO! NEWS” under the title of “Men Take More

‘Idiotic Risks,’ Study finds” [ CITATION Men14 \l 1033 ] and it was carried out by twelve participants both

professionals and laymen. And, the SL of the text is English and the TT is Kurdish. The purpose of this survey

is to analyze how and why the same complex sentence vary from one individual to another. Also, there is a

gender balance with six male and female. Furthermore, because of confidentiality we have not named the

participants and label them numerically.

To summarize, the participants were asked only to translate the underlined sentences not the whole text.

And, we chose twelve participants because of limitations which cannot be more than 5000 words.

3.2 The survey analysis

A. Subject (4), the clause “the researchers added” which comes at the end of the complex sentences in English

should be written at the beginning of the sentence in Kurdish. Only three participants translated as the English

text and did not write “the researchers added” at the beginning of the sentences. The participants were (5, 9,

and 11).

Thus, in English the source who adds something mostly comes at the end of the sentences which are quite

right, however in Kurdish language this should be changed with replacing the source at the beginning of the

sentences which most of the participants did.

Moreover, the problem with these three participants can be they either stuck to the English structure or they

lack knowledge about Kurdish structure and sentences which one should be aware of, not only the structure of

the SL but also TL.

B. Subject (2), in English language the subject of the subject of the sentences can be anywhere in a sentence and

still meaningful, on the contrary in Kurdish language the subject of the sentences can be anywhere in the
~ 12 ~
sentences but the meaning would not be as precise as it is put in the beginning of the sentences. So, the doer or

agent of the SL of subject (2) came at the second part of the sentence that should be written at the beginning

of the sentences. The result was, only one participant did actually bring the “The researchers in united

kingdom” to the initial position of the sentence, the participant is number (10). Thus, we discovered that most

of the Kurdish translators stick to the literal meaning not the sense or overall meaning which is the essence of

translation.

C. Subject (2), almost all the participant struggled to transfer the perfect meaning of a clause in this subject which

is “," to see whether men's generally higher inclination for risk-taking extends to taking "idiotic risks." There

are only to participant who could give the perfect meaning of this clause they are participant 2 and 12. After

careful consideration we have found out it was because of the compound word “risk-taking” which made the

clause almost impossible to be translated. As we talked about before in other sections literal translations

would definitely ruin the translation of complex sentences but it is not always the case as this clause

demonstrates that a word can actually has a very big rule in translation of complex sentences. The bellow

translations is one of the best translation of this clause which was done by participant number (2):

D. Section (3), both the lack of equivalence and literal translation made this section difficult to translate as we
have this clause “, and the person must have been capable of sound judgment, while showing "an astonishing
misapplication of common sense." First, the lack of equivalence in Kurdish language made this phrase
“common sense” difficult to give the meaning. Another reason for this phrase to be difficult to translate is that
it is been modified by two words such as “astonishing” which is an Adj. and “misapplication” which is a
noun. Thus, both lack of equivalence and been modified by two words makes a phrase complicated to
translate.

Second, fixed expression and collocations are also arduous to translate into Kurdish. The phrase “sound
judgement” is translated literally and also it lacks equivalence. Thus, translators should be aware of the fact
that translation is not just replacing words by words; they also have to have a general background of the nature
of the SL with both fixed expression and collocations. Participant 2 and 9 could only translate this section
incredibly.

~ 13 ~
E. Subject (1), we have a non-finite clause “To win a Darwin Award,” at the beginning of the sentence. This
award will be won after doing something. So, this Award is the result. In Kurdish language results are better
to come not at the beginning of the sentences but at the end or second parts of the sentences after explain the
cause for achieving that result. Thus, in subject (2) the non-finite clause is came at the beginning of the
sentence and only one participant put it at the second part of the sentence by changing its position and aligning
according Kurdish structure. And, the participant is number (4).
All in all, although the rest of the translations by other participants sound good I can say this participant
(4) translation is more natural and perfect according to Kurdish language.
Thus, we count its translation as the best.

F. Subject (4), the transitional word “in addition” is been dealt differently. For instance, 7 participant i.e.

participant (3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12) translated as it is in the SL, the English text. However, only 4

participants changed its position and put it after the “The researchers added”. And, a participant number 7 has

skipped it without distorting its meaning.

Thus, transitional words in English have a very strong connection to the latter sentences or clauses. The

transitional word “in addition” has an addition meaning i.e. adding something to the previous aspects, but the

participants thought it is related to the current sense and meaning of the sentences. As a result the (3, 5, 8, 9,

10, 11 and 12) participants mistranslated it without linking the transitional word to the previous sentences.

Furthermore, the subject (4) is really challenging to translate since the participants should bring “the

researchers added” to the initial position of the sentence and the starting transitional word “in addition” be put

after “the researchers added.”

Chapter 4

Conclusion

The study has reached the following main findings about “translation of English complex sentences” into

“Kurdish language”. The findings are:

 Translating Adv. Of manner into Kurdish needs “‫ بەم شێوەیە‬،‫ بەم جۆرە‬،‫ بەم شێوازە‬،‫ ”بەم رێگەیە‬and etc.

Examples:

~ 14 ~
i. I shall do the exercises as I have been taught.‫ئەبێ بەو شێوازە راهێنانەکان بکەم کە پێم وتراوە‬

ii. Henry did the work as it ought to be done. ‫هێنری بەو شێوەیە کارەکەی کرد کە پێویست بو‬

iii. When I get the money I shall spend it as I like it. ‫کاتێک پارەکەم دەست کەوت ئە وا بەو جۆرە خەرجی‬

‫دەکەم کە خۆم ئەمەوێ‬.

 Adv. of place and time are better to be put at the beginning of the sentence in Kurdish unlike English

which can either come at the beginning or at the end.

Examples:

i. Adv. of place: I keep running into Sally everywhere! ‫لە هەموو شوێنێک توشی سالی ئەبم‬

ii. Adv. of time: I like perfect quietness when I am working. ‫کاتێک ئیش دەکەم حەز بە ئارامییەکی تەواو‬

‫دەکەم‬

 Kurdish language use two subordinator in a complex sentence but English only one.

Example: Although I woke up late, I could catch the bus. ‫ بەاڵم توانیم فریای‬،‫لەگەڵ ئەوەی درەنگ لە خەو هەستام‬

‫پاس بکەوم‬.

 Subordinator “although” has the same meaning as coordinator “but”.

Example:

He tried hard, but he failed. Although he tried hard, he failed.

 Translating “non-finite ing & ed participle” needs the word "‫"کاتێک‬.

Examples:

i. Her aunt having left the room, I declared my passionate love for Celia. ‫کاتێک نەنکی ژورەکەی‬

‫جێهێشت هەست و سۆزو خۆشەویستی خۆم بۆ سیلیا دەربری‬.

ii. We left the room and went home, the job finished. ‫کاتێک کارەکە تەواو بو ژوورەکەمان جێهێشت و چوینەوە‬

‫ماڵەوە‬.

 Translating “relative clause” needs the word "‫"کە‬.

~ 15 ~
Examples:

i. I remember the day when she first wore that pink dress. ‫ئەو ڕۆژەم لە بیرە کە بۆیەکەم جار ئەو جلە پەمەییەی‬

‫لەبەر کرد‬..

ii. • My father, who had been on a visit to America, arrived at Southampton yesterday. ‫باوکم کە گەشتی‬

‫کردبو بۆ ئەمریکا دوێنێ گەشتەوە ساوسهامپتۆن‬.

 The one who proclaim something, i.e. the source, comes first in Kurdish but in English it can either be

at the beginning or at the end.

Example: Subject (4)

 Changing English structure while translating because Kurdish structure is different in one way to

another as it is been clarified in the survey analysis.

Men Take More 'Idiotic Risks,' Study Finds

Men tend to take more risks than women do, and they also seem to be ahead of women in engaging in risky
behaviour that is extremely "idiotic," according to researchers who revealed in a new study that the majority of
the receivers of a Darwin Award are men.

Subject 1.To win a Darwin Award, a darkly humorous honour that has existed for more than 20 years, a person
must die in "an extraordinarily idiotic manner," and thereby protect the human gene pool and improve the
species' chances of long-term survival. For example, one person in the new study was a "terrorist who posted a
letter bomb with insufficient postage stamps and who, on its return, unthinkingly opened his own letter," the
researchers wrote.

Subject 2.In a special Christmas issue of the BMJ (a light-hearted edition of the medical journal that normally
publishes serious research), researchers in the United Kingdom used the Darwin Award database to examine an
idea they call "male idiot theory," to see whether men's generally higher inclination for risk-taking extends to
".taking "idiotic risks

The researchers reviewed the stories of all nominees for the Darwin Award from 1995 to 2014, noting the
gender of the winner. Subject 3. To win a Darwin Award, the story of how the death happened must be
verifiable, and the person must have been capable of sound judgment, while showing "an astonishing
misapplication of common sense."

‫ کەسەکە پێویستە توانای بریاردانی ئاقاڵنەی هەبێت و لەهەمان‬،‫ چیرۆکی چۆنییەتی مردن پێویستە بسەلمێنرێت‬،‫بۆ بردنەوەی خەاڵتی داروین‬
)‫کاتدا توانی (خراپ بەکارهێنانی شارەزایی زگماکی بەشێوەیەکی سەرسامکەر پشان بدات‬.

The researchers looked at 332 cases confirmed by the Darwin Awards Committee to be true incidents. For their
analysis, they excluded 14 cases of deaths of adventurous couples, leaving them with 318 cases.

Of those, just 36 were women. The other 282 winners, or 88.7 percent, were men, the researchers found.

The findings support the researchers' theory that "men are idiots, and idiots do stupid things," they said.

~ 18 ~
The theory could also explain some of the gender gap previous studies have found in risk-seeking behaviours,
emergency department visits and mortality, the researchers said. Men are more likely than women to be
admitted to an emergency department after accidental injuries or with a sport injury and they are more likely to
die in traffic accidents.

Men may be more likely to play riskier sports or have dangerous occupations, but they might also do more
stupid things, according to the study.

Still, it is also possible that the makeup of Darwin Award winners is biased toward men because cases
involving women may not get reported as often.

Subject 4.In addition, alcohol use and its effects may be different among men and women and could potentially
impact how many of each group will end up in an event leading to a Darwin Award, the researchers added.

must die in "an extraordinarily idiotic manner," and thereby protect the human gene pool and improve the
species' chances of long-term survival. For example, one person in the new study was a "terrorist who posted a
letter bomb with insufficient postage stamps and who, on its return, unthinkingly opened his own letter," the
researchers wrote.
