Matching

 You will be given two lists to match.

 How to recognize it?

Read the directions: Read the paragraph. Match each item in List A with an item in List B.

 Strategies:

1. Read the question carefully and underline keywords in both List A and B.

2. Scan the reading passage to find the information or keywords given in List A.

3. Read the sentence that you find the keyword of List A in.

4. In the sentence, look for relevant words, synonyms, paraphrase in List B.

5. If you could not find it in this sentence then move to the next or previous sentence.
Matching

Important tips:
1. The word in List A might be very obvious in the passage: italicized or capitalized.
2. The words in List B might be a paraphrase.
3. Read the sentence you find the List A keyword deeply to understand it because
they may trick you by using words that do not match, but are identical.
4. A word in List B may be used twice.
Short Answer Question

 In this form of IELTS Reading question you will be given a list of questions to answer in
a very limited number of words.
 How to identify short answer questions?
Read the directions if they asked you to answer questions in only a few number of words
like three or two, then you must follow the strategies for answering short answer.
 Strategies:
1. Read the questions to highlight the keywords. They will normally be nouns or noun
phrases.
2. Scan the passage to find the keywords you underlined in the question list.
3. Find the answer for the WH questions.
Short Answer

 Tips:
1. The answers appear in the same order as the text.
2. Do not exceed the suggested number of words in the directions.
3. You can write less than the required number.
4. If you write over the stated word limit you will get the answer wrong.
