 Objectives of the test


 Tests your understanding of the main ideas of a part
of the text.
 Strategies:
 Read the summary or note as well as the words
given in the box.
 Scan the text to find the given words or their
synonyms in the text to help you fill in the gaps.
 The answer comes from one part of the text but not
necessarily in the same order as in the text.
 Think about the type of word(s) that will fit into a gap
(for example, whether a noun is needed, or a verb,
etc.).

 Objectives of the test
 Tests your ability to understand details in the text.
 Strategies:
 Look at the table or flowchart in the question carefully.
 Find the missing words by skimming the reading passage to find
the words around the gap.
 The answer comes from one part of the text but not necessarily in
the same order as in the text.
 Think about the type of word(s) that will fit into the gaps (for
example, whether a noun is needed, or a verb, etc.).
 You must select words from the text which fit into the gaps on the
question paper.
 Change the grammatical form to of the missing word according to
the sentence in the table/ chart.
 Stick to the word limit you get in the direction.

 Strategies:
 Read the directions carefully.
 Underline key words in the direction lines.

words .
 Scan the passage to find the highlighted key
words in the direction lines and answer choices.
 Skim the passage to make the right choices
matching the key words.
 The grammatical form of the key words can
direct you to find the answers easily and quickly.

information in the text: that is, the answer to the first
