harmonics in transformers increase copper and iron
losses and in turn causes the temperature to rise,
affecting the insulation and decreasing the overload

resonance and noise, it's extremely important to record
and analyze harmonics in all segments of the power
system.

acquired.
9. Fault Locating
Fault location by impedance measurement calculates
the linear impedance between the terminal and the fault
location, and in turn determines the distance to the
disturbance.
When the corresponding parameters like line length
and line impedance have been entered, once a phase-
to-ground or phase-to-phase short circuit happens a
recording will be started. Based on the impedance at
the time the short circuit happens, the DRL6600U
automatically calculates and determines the distance
between the device and the fault point.

14. HMI (Human-machine-interface)

The LHMI consists of the IED front panel and an HMI.

There are status and operation indicators on the IED
front panel.

DRL6600U-HMI contains the following: an industrial

PC, a display (LCD), a keyboard, and a mouse.
The HMI is used for setting, monitoring and controlling
of DRL6600U.

15. Communication

Station level communication

The DRL6600U disturbance recorder supports the IEC

61850-8-1 communication protocol.
The device provides 8 Ethernet ports on the
DRL6600U-HMI, so that several independent networks
can be connected simultaneously.
It also provides one Ethernet port on the CPU module
of the IED for horizontal GOOSE communication.

A total of 96 analog inputs can be accommodated. AC current and AC voltage modules can be configured according
to the actual project requirements. The highest permissible voltage for voltage channels is 180V, and largest current
for current channels is 40In (In is 1A or 5A, please note clearly in the order form). Primary and secondary side rated
values can be configured in the analog input channel settings of the device. Up to 192 binary input connections are
supported.
