General information about DNLU, Jabalpur

Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur (DNLU, hereafter) is established by the


Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act 24 of 2018. The foundation
stone of the University has been unveiled by Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Shri Dipak Misra,
on 30th June 2018 in the august presence of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister
of Law and Justice, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Hon’ble Chief Minister of M.P; Shri Justice
Hemant Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court Of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Justice
Rajendra Menon, Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court Of Judicature at Patna, Shri Justice
R.S. Jha, Hon’ble Judge In-Charge Judicial Education, M.P. and other dignitaries of legal
fraternity across India.
Government has allotted 120 acres of land to the university in the lush green and pleasant
surrounding at village Pipariya adjacent to the Jabalpur Airport to establish a state of art
infrastructure, equipped with all modern amenities as green and clean campus, technically
equipped classroom, e-library, language lab, auditorium, seminar hall, moot court, theatre and
music hall, parks, fully furnished air conditioned hostel, cafeteria, gymnasium, parks, mess and
others.
DNLU has started its first academic session (2018-19) at the Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar
Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT, hereafter), Ridge Road, Jabalpur. BRBRAITT is
the apex training institute of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, well known for delivering quality
trainings in the field of Telecommunication, OFC, Mobile, Data Communication, IT, etc., along
with its state-of-art equipment of latest technology labs. It holds the pride of being the oldest
training centres in the field of Telecommunication in Asia. It has a clean, green, fully safe and
secured campus. In the temporary set up at BRBRAITT, DNLU has established a fully
furnished academic block, classrooms, seminar hall, auditorium, library, canteen and made
proper arrangement for indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The University has separate hostel
facilities for boys and girls. Air conditioned accommodation is available for girls. Both hostels
are situated in the vicinity of the University campus at a walkable distance from the university.
The aim of the university is clearly reflected in its motto “स ं वद धम चर”, which means “speak
the truth and conduct in accordance with Dharma” and committed to imbibe the same in the
personality and conduct of learners. The university has a vision to impart vibrant legal culture
and knowledge among the learners by judicious practices and committed towards the
dissemination of quality education and research and to be a centre of excellence for legal
education and research in India. Overall development in learners’ personality is sine qua non
of the vibrant culture of DNLU and also provides ample opportunities to take part in academic
and extra-curricular activities across the globe. Many of our students have participated in
national and international activities and cherished wonderful experiences. DNLU believes in
collaborative teaching and learning and has established various circles of interest among the
students along with teachers to promote better interpersonal skills and teaching-learning
ambience.
Programme Offered: Integrated Five Years B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
Duration: Five Years Degree Programme

Eligibility for Admission:

i. Candidate should be the citizen of India and has obtained a Senior Secondary
School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Board with not
less than 45% of the total marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC and ST candidates).
ii. S/he should be appeared in CLAT Exam (as per the CLAT score of the candidate, the
university will notify the list of selected and waiting list of the candidates).
iii. Candidates applying to reserved seats need to submit a copy of the relevant certificate with
their application otherwise their candidature for reserved seat will not be considered.
iv. Selected candidates shall be required to deposit fee within the specified period mentioned
in the notification. Failing to deposit fee in specified time period will be strictly treated as
cancellation of admission and that seat will be transferred to the next candidate selected
in waiting list as per merit.
v. At the time of admission, selected candidates will have to submit their original certificate
in the office, for verification.
vi. “Age criteria – According to March 3, 2017, Supreme Court’s order, any law aspirant
could fill the application form at par revised CLAT eligibility criteria. There is no age bar
for CLAT application form as the Apex Court stays BCI’s age policy for this year.
vii. CLAT Committee is yet to announce new age policy for CLAT 2018 after the Supreme
Court stays BCI’s age policy. Advised to read the Supreme Court’s order on CLAT age
bar.”
Intake of Reservation:
The total intake of this course is 120 that further sub-distributed as per the reservation policy
for the candidates of Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes and Other Backward Classes of the
State of Madhya Pradesh and other categories shall be provided in accordance to the rules of
M.P. State Government. The horizontal and vertical break up of reservation of seats is as
follows:

Out of 76 General Seats, 30 Seats are horizontally reserved for candidates having domicile
certificate of State of M.P.
 36 Seats are horizontally reserved for women candidates (30% out of 120 seats).
 6 Seats are horizontally reserved for Persons with Disability (5% out of 120 seats).

Provided that if sufficient number of eligible candidates to the concerned reserved seats are
not available, the unfilled seats shall be filled by the General category candidates on the basis
of their merit/score in CLAT.

A tentative distribution of the Fee-structure for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course for the academic

Note:
 Students struggling with English, Remedial English classes are planned for first and
second semester students of B.A. LLB (Hons.).
 Taking in consideration the career prospects of the candidates and their aspiration for
Civil Services and other Competitive Exams, special classes are planned from first to
last semester in B.A. LLB (Hons.) course.
 Special training modules are planned on Right to Information (RTI), Academic
Research Writing, Creative Writing, Talent nurturing, etc. for students by the experts.
Information Regarding Scholarships
Candidates can avail various scholarship provided by the M.P. State, Other States and Central
Government of India. Under the M.P. State Government, there are various scholarships as
Mukhya Mantri Medhavi Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Jankalyan Yojana, Pratibha Yojana,
Goan Ki Beti Yojana, Pratibha Kiran Yojana and schemes for OBC, SC and ST candidate
that can be availed by the candidates belonging to Madhya Pradesh. Candidates belonging to
other states can also avail the scholarships as per the rules and regulation of their respective
states. Besides these, candidates can also avail the scholarships sponsored by Central
Government of India. Currently, 40 students out of 120 are availing the scholarship under
various schemes of the State Government as well as Central Government.
