    -duplicate layer (background copy2 appears)
    -click background copy-blending options/red off
    -click eye (downright menu) background copy1+2
    (background orig remains off)
    -click background copy1 (red)
    -move tool-move the red layer to the right
    -click background copy2 (green+blue)
    -move tool-move the green+blue layer to the left
    -click eye (downright menu) orig.background on
    (all three eyes on)
    -layer/flatten image
    -file/save as
