Type of Environmental Change

1. Individual Level Change

- Example: Person A is involved with a company that sells menstrual pads and other feminine things.
Person A after some time learned feminist values from feminist friends. Person A now understood how
capitalism profits from the natural need of women to shed blood every month. Person A now think why
governments can make condoms free but never menstrual pads. Person A is considering resigning
from the job.
2. Group Level Change
- Example: A new union was formed in Company A after a certain group has developed a strong bond
and the courage to demand higher salaries that they do deserve.
3. Organizational Change
a. Strategic Change- Graduating students now demand payment for their internship. This is mostly due to
the economic crisis in the country. Company B decided to pay their interns to encourage students to
work at their company and also to boost their company image.
b. Structural Change- During the economic crisis, Company C and Company D decided to merge. Hence,
with this merge both companies are required to overhaul their company structure.
c. Process Oriented Change- Due to technological advancements, Department of Education implements
submission of important reports online. Because of this, trainings and seminars were held especially to
those people who are not technology savy.
d. People Oriented Change- Principal A was designated to a public school where teachers have low
morale. Teachers there have low motivation to provide quality education. Principal A decided to start
holding frequent seminars for the teachers to improve their skills and motivation.

Other Factors
1. External Factors
a. Technology- DepEd started implementing daily time record tracking per school through the use of
biometrics machine.
b. Marketing Conditions- Due to ASEAN integration, Southeast Asian nationalities would be
competing amongst each other for jobs. DepEd implemented K-12 curriculum and the Philippine
Professional Standards for Teachers to equip the Filipinos with necessary knowledge, skills and
experience to compete with other nationalities for employment.
c. Social Change- With the advent of technology and need to maintain international linkages, State
University A is starting to consider exchange student programs.
d. Political and Legal Change- When K-12 was implemented, state universities and colleges have to
change their curriculum in accordance to the changes made in the basic education curriculum.

2. Internal
a. Change in Managerial Personnel- Principal A was stiff, robot-like and hates parties. When Principal
B replaced him as the school head, people liked him more. Principal B was approachable, friendly
and always invites community leaders to important occasions in schools. With that, the school
receives extra funds from the community.

b. Deficiency in Existing Organizational System- Public School A increased its enrolment after K-12
implementation. The school head now cannot cope with the demand of managing a school with
over 5, 000 students. The school head should request for a junior school assistant principal and a
senior school assistant principal.

c. Nature of Work Force- The company chairman knows that most of the employees who contribute
to the turnover rate are young while the older ones stay as long as they can. The chairman
understands this and tries to give as much incentives to encourage the young ones to stay such as
free use of gymnasium and a lobby area where they can take a nap break.

d. Organization Avoids Developing Inertia

- Before DepEd implemented K-12, it held seminars, training, capacity-building activities and
consultations. It sought the help of mass media for the public to understand that K-12 is necessary.
