III. Course Description:
The course is intended to introduce the education students of effective curriculum design and
assessment. The course topics include curriculum models, principles and approaches in designing,
delivering and assessing the curriculum.
IV. Course Objectives:
Cognitive (Creed)
1. Discuss and explains the importance of curriculum development with gender fair issues to the future
teachers.
2. Describe the different nature and purposes of curriculum development.
3. Differentiate the elements and components of the curriculum in relation to gender and development.
4. Integrate an appropriate learning styles, instructional approaches and teaching-learning process in
curriculum development.
Affective (Moral)
1. Apply the basic principles of development and curriculum making.
2. Design a model curriculum demonstrating consideration for related age groups, and setting including
appropriate community linkages/stakeholders.
3. Manifest positive attitudes towards principle of curriculum and approaches to curriculum design.
Psychomotor (Skills)
1. Construct instruments for monitoring and assessing curriculum implementation.
2. Report the research or action papers written with an implemented curriculum.
