Exercise 2 Natural Barriers [10 min]

Natural barriers constitute the first line of defense

in our body. They try to prevent the entrance of
pathogens through the different portals of entry
such as the mouth, nose, ears, and sexual tract.
These barriers may include earwax, nasal
secretions, gastric juice, tears, skin, urinary
stream, saliva, mucus & ciliated cells inside the
respiratory tube, sweat, & the intestinal good
bacteria.
