John McMahan: Morality of Screening for Disability

John McMahan had some strong points and good intentions in his study
about the disabled. But he did not foresee the outcome and the effect of these with
not only the disabled people and other racial group that may be affected. It shows
that he did not consider the factor of discrimination and just wanted to flush out all
causes of disability in newborns. I still believe in everything having their purpose
and having the reason as to why things happened that way. What about the disabled
people who are as of present having a unique contribution to this society? How
would they feel? It was also mentioned that this may have adverse effect on human
diversity which makes again unique contribution. I am torn between agreeing and
disagreeing with his beliefs but sometimes when you dig deeper you just come to a
side which proves to be making a lot more sense. I just did not want the way he saw
disabled people as burdens and normal people as least worse for their parents. That
is just how I view things but I would really want both sides which is impossible to
happen. Unless people can come up with something without harming others.
Having the best intensions with considering the feelings of others and not stepping
on anyone is the best way to make a movement and a change.
