“Look! When I’m scared,
I can hide in it,” he added.
“I don’t need a shell,” said
Little Hippo. “I’m very brave!”
“But if I do get scared,
I can always hide behind
my mommy.”
“She protects me
just like a shell!”
Toddle Time
by Laurel Abell PArt by Takako Fisher

Toddle, waddle, giggle, topple!

Off you go on your own two feet.
Teeter, totter, tumble, bumble!
Up again, down again, can’t be beat!

Slowly, Slowly Anonymous
Art by Lynne Avril

Slowly, slowly, very slowly

Creeps the garden snail.
Slowly, slowly, very slowly
Up the wooden rail.
Quickly, quickly, very quickly
Runs the little mouse.
Quickly, quickly, very quickly
Round about the house.
Night Walk by Galen Goodwin Longstreth
Art by Kimberly Soderberg

After dinner, we put on our coats

and step into the night.
In the dark, we see lights:
street lamps,
headlights on cars,
glowing windows,
twinkling stars.

Back at home, under our own porch light,
we blow a kiss and say, “Goodnight, night.”

snug and warm.

But that’s not all my super blanket can do! It’s just
right for playtime . . . and sharing with a friend.
My blanket is
the softest
place for a
stretch . . .

and it’s my
peekaboo pal!

It wraps me up fo or a trip
outside. Yes, my blanket goes
everywhere I go!
