It is sometimes thought that, extinction of certain plants and animals, is the prime environmental issue

of this generation. However, other people believe we should rather focus on other environmental
problems. In my opinion, although species becoming extinct is a problem, there are other serious issues
with our environment that need more attention.

On the one hand, some people think that, decline in numbers of plants and animals’ species, is the
number one environmental problem of this century. They point out the staggering rate at which these
species are disappearing because of the human involvement: with growing population, we need more
land for agriculture and development. As forest and other natural areas are claimed, plants and animals
lose their habitat. Moreover, they believe biodiversity is essential for human health in terms of food and
health care. The health of human is largely dependent on the products of an ecosystem. With
biodiversity loss, a huge impact on human health comes as well.

On the other hand, others argue the major issue facing this generation is climate change and I agree
with this. Climate change is resulting in rising temperature, becoming the cause of many environmental
disasters .As the sea level is on the rise, frequent and intense floods are expected to happen in the
future and the coastal population in particular are on a greater risks of losing their homes. In addition,
climate change is one reason plants and animals are declining. Temperature of the sea is getting high
which has a huge impact on ecosystem and because of the growing number of wildfire across the globe
many individual plants and animals die out. So, I believe the need of the hour is to address the problem
of climate change, which will ultimately results in saving an enormous numbers of flora and fauna.

In conclusion, while people vary in their opinions regarding which issue to be more focused on, I think,
Climate change is something that desire our attention at the moment otherwise, In addition to
biodiversity loss, we are going to see human loss as well.
