Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

 Introduction to changing the constitution PowerPoint (20 mins)

PowerPoint will cover how the Australian constitution can be changed (referendums).
Using diagrams to illustrate what a successful and unsuccessful referendum looks like.
Subject-specific vocabulary such as referendum, constitution, parliament etc. will be PowerPoint

Students struggling with the worksheet can use the Oxford Big Ideas 7 to assist them.

After students have completed the first worksheet, students will look at case study in
Oxford Big Ideas Humanities and Social Science Textbook page 434-435 and answer
1,3, and 4.

Whilst students are completing worksheets, circulate around the classroom to assist
students and gage their understanding of the topic
Word- search is also available for students who finish both worksheets earlier

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)
