ORGANIZATION BEHAVIOR

INTRODUCTION:

This assignment determines a theory of learning which applies to a noteworthy

behavior in my life, what amend happened, the learning theory, the relating of
the learning theory with my behavior and the conclusion of the certain behavior.
The behavior explains is how my behavior was changed by my parents and
relatives and how it speaks about to the learning theories and the conclusion of
my writings.

INCIDENT:

The reminiscence I want to share is what used to happen when I started my

school. I was given acknowledgement, admiration and appreciation when I used
to get good marks in my school exams. Any relative who used to come at my
place acknowledged me of getting good marks in my school exams and I used to
love the sentiment of being appreciated and acknowledged, possibly getting a
very good present from my parents and relatives. The habit was to study hard
before the exams which gave good results. This behavior was prized by my
parents and relatives who led to my getting more and more good results by
working hard in exams. The acknowledgement was appreciated by giving some
sort of present which I had wished or something I liked. For having very good

result I used to call my relatives and tell them about my result and the feeling was
of great joy and happiness telling others because eventually they will be getting
something for me as present of getting good marks. This specific behavior of
working hard in exams kept on strengthening and I used to get good result in my
exams every year. It became a natural habit to me to work hard in exams and get
good marks. I used to disturb my parents in studying and often wasting my time in
playing videogames or some sort of other activity but it eventually stopped with
time and I started studying and kept on working hard to achieve my goal that was
to get good marks in exams.

LEARNING THEORY:

The learning theory that pertains here is the operant conditioning .Operant
conditioning is a method of learning that occurs through rewards and
punishments of behavior. It says that a behavior followed by a positive
reinforcement (reward) is strengthened while a behavior followed by a negative
reinforcement is weakened. Reinforcement is a consequence that causes a
behavior to occur with greater frequency. The theory of operant conditioning
which applies here is the positive reinforcement that says “Positive reinforcement
occurs when a behavior (response) is followed by a stimulus that is rewarding
which increases the frequency of that behavior.”

LINKING:

The association of the operant conditioning theory that is the positive

reinforcement theory applies in this situation as by giving rewards in form of

presents, acknowledgement and appreciation to specific behavior of a child that is

working hard to get good marks in exams.

EXPLANATION:

The parents and relatives endeavor for a child to work hard in his exams to get
good results for his future benefit and acknowledge him by giving rewards in form
of presents and things that are liked by the child. The behavior of the child who
does not really want to study and likes to play video games and waste his energy
on futile things is modified by his parents and relatives efforts. It is a series of
efforts adopted by the parents and relatives by reinforcing a child again and again
to have a certain type of behavior. The behavior as the positive reinforcement
theory says that “Reinforcement is a consequence that causes a behavior to occur
with greater frequency” becomes repetitive by continuously giving reinforcement.
The behavior becomes repetitive and strengthened as reinforcement is being
given continuously.

CONCLUSION:

The behavior of a child is changed by the efforts of his parents and relatives by
giving him reinforcement in form of appreciating, acknowledging and giving gifts
and presents. The child was not vey good in studies and liked to play games. The
certain behavior of the child was changed by his parents and relatives by
reinforcing him continuously and eventually the child became good in studies by
working hard.
