1.0 OBJECTIVE

1.1 To determine the density of brick according to Malaysia2 standard.

2.0 EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL

iii) Balance (6kg x 0.1g)

3.0 PROCEDURE

3.1) Density.

i) A brick was measured by using a vernier caliper and volume of brick was
measured by ruler steel.

ii) The mass of brick was determined by using weigh measure.

iii) The density of brick was calculated by using the formula.

3.0 OBJECTIVE

3.1 To determine the density of brick according to Malaysia2 standard.

3.1) WATER OBSORPTION

i) The mass of dried brick sample was determined by weighing it with balance.

ii) The brick sample was immersed in water for half hour.

iii) The mass of wet brick was determined and percentage of water absorption
for that brick sample was calculated by using the formula.

Percentage of water absorption = Mass of the wet brick X 100

6.0 OBJECTIVE

6.1 To determine the compressive strength of a brick according to Malaysia


Standard.

i The area and the mass of the brick was measured.

ii) The brick was put into compressive machine and the controller was twisted
until the brick fail.

iii) The average of compressive strength for brick sample was calculated.
