WHAT IS A MYSTERY ?

o A mystery may refer to something that cannot be explained or


comprehended. Any action, affair, or event so obscure or concealed as
to arouse suspense, curiosity, or fear is a mystery.
o A mystery is mostly in investigation activities whereby a detective
has to solve a puzzle so as to find a solution of a crime and crack the
case .
o There are many unsolved mysteries in life even though science,
technology, and research have come a very long way. Although we
may demand a logical explanations for these mysterious things, as
of now we will have to settle with mere speculations.
BERMUDA TRIANGLE
o The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the
Devil's Triangle, lies in the western part of the
North Atlantic Ocean , where a number of
aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared
under mysterious circumstances.
o A number of explanations have been suggested
over the years ranging from time warps ,
extreme weather to alien abductions .
o The Bermuda triangle is still one of the biggest
unsolved mysteries of the world .
THE LOCH NESS MONSTER
o The Loch Ness Monster is a legendary animal that
supposedly resides in the depths of Loch Ness , a
long narrow lake in rural Scotland .
o Stories concerning the monster date back to 6th
Century AD . The region was in complete
isolation until a road was built alongside the lake
in 1933 .
o Then large number of people travelled through the
region for the very first time . Over the years
thousands have reported seeing something in the
lake . Most reports depict a long neck surging from
the water with a small head of an unknown creature .
THE ZODIAC KILLER
o Zodiac Killer is the nickname given to an unidentified serial
killer who operated in northern California in the late 1960s
and early 1970s.
o Four men and three women between the ages of 16 and 29
were targeted.
o The killer sent letters containing four cryptograms to the local
media . Of the four cryptograms sent , only one has been
solved .
o The murderer’s identity is still unknown .
THE LOST CITY OF ATLANTIS

o Atlantis is a legendary island first mentioned in 350BC by Plato. He


wrote about a beautiful island in the Atlantic Ocean that went under
the ocean waves in one day and one night .
o The Atlantians were great engineers and architects.
o For years people have been looking for the mysterious lost city . Some
people think it’s lost somewhere in Central America and some think
its somewhere near Andes Mountains in Bolivia .
STONEHENGE
o Built in several stages, Stonehenge began about 5,000 years ago
as a simple earthwork enclosure where prehistoric people buried
their cremated dead. The stone circle was erected in the centre of
the monument in the late Neolithic period, around 2500 BC .
o Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire , which is
90miles far from London
o Two types of stone are used at Stonehenge: the larger sarsens at a
height of 9m and weight of 40T, and the smaller bluestones with a
weight of 4T. There are 83 stones in total .
o The mystery in it is that it is build in the age in which a circle or
wheel is not known and the stones that are present in it is matched
to the stones which are 52km far from it.
CONCLUSION
As a race, we humans love mysteries, regardless of
whether they are simple riddles, exciting novels or
something much bigger. Scientists, historians and
enthusiasts have dedicated their entire careers to trying
to solve some of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the
world, yet there are many just seem unsolveable.
