Reflection of My Writing Growth

Before I came to university my writing skills in English weren’t that atrocious, however, they

weren’t organized. Ever since I entered university, I haven’t really been writing that much, this is

the result of my bachelor’s degree, as I have mentioned before in my previous work, I am

pursuing an education on Natural Sciences, and this have become sort of a problem. The issue

that comes with pursuing an education in sciences, is the misconception that writing is

uncomplicated. The reality of the fact, is that writing or putting something on a paper for others

to understand is quite strenuous.

The main problem I have as a writer, is conducting my ideas on a clear way. This became a

considerable issue when I had to write a symposium on my genetics lecture, last year. The

problem arise when I had to organize some convoluted ideas on to a paper. This represented a

challenge for me, since I hadn’t taken a class of English in a while, and additional to that, I never

learned how to properly write a concept on a technical way. Surprisingly enough, I am currently

finishing a class labeled as Technical Writing, which is intended to serve for such a problem.

This course provided me some tools for my writing. In a more specific way, for my technical

writing, looking back at my first writing assignment “Free writing” my writing has undoubtedly
improve. Recently I was working on my writing portfolio for the class, in which I could see a

timeline of my writing and how the same have improve in both consistency and direction. Now I

feel like I don’t have to be constantly searching for a proper way of organizing my thoughts in an

essay or paper, and that’s quite satisfying.
