What is Quality Improvement and how does it make health care services more
effective?
Quality improvement is the working action of every person to implement measurable changes, to
make health services more effective, safe an people centred also it supports the identification of
various gaps and produce solutions to address the identified gaps create a potential service
deliver bottlenecks

Why do you think it is important for us to allow patient to take on Satisfaction Surveys, What can we
benefit from it and what impact does it have in delivering health care services.

We can get an effective conclusion and using a satisfaction surveys act we can understand the
need of our patient and improve our comprehensive health care services.

Patient Satisfaction Survey

The patient satisfaction survey for the Unified Medical Group Association questionnaire was developed
in 1994 and is used to assess satisfaction with care and health-related quality of life of patients of the
Unified Medical Group Association, which merged with the Unified Medical Group Association
(UMGA) to form the American Medical Group Association
Patient satisfaction Questionnaire and Scoring Instructions

The patient satisfaction questionnaire covers 50 items that assess satisfaction in six areas: technical
quality, interpersonal manner, communication, financial aspects of care, time spent with the physician and
accessibility of care. RAND Health also provides scoring instructions for the questionnaire.
Service Administration Survey

The service administration survey may help health centers gauge worker and patient satisfaction. The tool
was developed after federally funded health centers expressed support for a standardized patient
assessment tool.

Case Study

Mr. Brodmann is a 32-year-old Filipino American migrant living alone who arrived at the Emergency
Department at Winchester Medical Center brought by the Ambulance because he broke his left ankle.
He stated that he twisted and broke his ankle between while playing basketball with his friends. After
almost 4 weeks, the Doctor has advised for the patient to be discharged from the hospital and will be
monitored out patient.

Patient History
- Former smoker: patient reports having a history of smoking cigarettes as well as marijuana,
but no longer smokes.
- Has been always healthy, first time to be admitted in the Hospital, First Surgery

Medical Status While at the Hospital

- An x-ray was ordered on the patient’s left ankle and show a closed fracture.
- Patient was operated and the fracture was addressed. He is in foot traction 2 weeks post op
-The swelling in his left leg has not fully subsided yet and his pain score is from 7-9 intermittently
-Patient continuously complained of back pain regardless of positioning while staying at the
hospital
saying he's not comfortable with the bed.
-Patient is Anxious that he may not be able to walk again or play basketball with his friends and
said he has no one to be with.

Treatment Cold compress to reduce swelling, inflammation, and to


Control the pain.

Health Education Bones are the hardest tissues in the body and when broken,
take about six weeks for bones to heal. It may take longer for
ligaments or other soft tissues to heal as well.

Out Patient Check up Assuming the bone is healed well, the patient is then allowed
to start weight bearing and to begin physical therapy. Patients
will generally have six weeks of physical therapy or more if
required.

Diet Patient must have a diet rich in protein and calcium


to help build new and strong bones for faster
healing of the fracture. These can obtained from
meat, fish, milk, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt,
nuts, seeds, beans, soy products, and fortified
cereals.

Spirituality Engagement in spiritual activities may be limited due to the


patient’s condition
