BIOGRAPHY:
Hipatia (355-415), is a symbol of the end
of classical thinking in the face of the
advance of Christianity. Philosopher,
mathematician and astronomer, leader of
the Neoplatonic School of Alexandria.
Hypatia is the first female mathematician
we have knowledge of. She was lynched by
a fanatical mob at a time of Theodosian
Catholicism: dragged around the city,
stripped naked, and beaten to death with
tiles.
