1. The Attributes of Former President Corazon C. Aquino and positive events during her
administration

a. Mrs. Rhea Vasquez’s account

The only positive contribution of Cory Aquino I have experienced during my teenage is the
freedom of expression and democracy. “Noon panahon kasi ni Marcos, para kaming robot” she
said. All of us were controlled by the Army and the Government. We do not have the right to
express our side and complaint. The media were also controlled because of the Martial Law to
prevent public criticism. I was thankful that this former President fought against the unrighteous
act of the Military under the Martial Law.

b. Mr. Benjamin Villapando’s account

'yong lethal injection ata yun."

2. The bad side of Former President Corazon C. Aquino and negative events during her
administration.

a. Mr. Rodel Vasquez’s account

I was a teenager when I heard the news of closing the Bataan Nuclear Power
Plant. It was during her administration. This because it was a Marcos plant and may have
been compromised by corruption partially because environmentalists have told her that if
it becomes active, the power station is a clear and present danger, because it sits on top of
a fault line. Never mind that Japan as a whole has a massive fault line surrounded with
multiple nuclear power plants, or the fact that Marcos built the plant because of the
expected energy requirement and also to make us less dependent on oil for electricity. I
am totally disappointed with the decision of Cory Aquino. This led in the government
continuing to pay for the debt to Westinghouse from the mothballed power plant, and the
resulting electricity crisis of the 1990s prompted President Ramos to request emergency
powers to build new foreign-funded power plants. Due to the extreme rotating black outs
before, people have been forced to buy personal generators to power their homes and
businesses, leading to air pollution, in contradiction on what the environmentalists
discussed on why the Bataan Nuclear Plant must close.

b. Mrs. Benedicta Villapando’s account

Wala man lamang nangyari.

Tagaytay.
3. Between the two sides interviewed, which do you think is more reliable? Why?

Given all the facts and information by each account on both sides, we can
conclude that the negative side is more reliable.

On the negative side, it provided a lot of information. Although, both sides were
based on the experience of each account, the number of evidences and information on the
negative side is much more than the other side. Moreover, the negative side is not biased
because the two accounts have discussed the difference between the administration of
Cory Aquino and Ferdinand Marcos. On the other hand, the accounts in the positive side
were focused only on one good thing about Cory Aquino. The two accounts only
discussed about freedom and democracy. Even though they compared also the said two
administration, they were lacked of supporting details because they only compare it in
terms of government system. They did not mention the economical issues and other
necessary areas of problem in our country.
