ABSTRACT

The teachers’ beliefs towards the students may have an influence as to

how they make their decisions in life and as to how they view themselves. In
regards to the new curriculum of DepEd the K-12 the STEM strand which is part
of the Academic track, whose students enrolled to this are often labeled to as
smart students. The perceptions that teachers develop towards STEM students
somehow put these students in a pedestal wherein they have to exert more effort
than those on the other strands in order to please or give the teachers the
satisfaction. Such that in Almeria National High School those who are enrolled in
STEM felt that teachers are implicitly giving high expectations.

This study generally aims to know the teacher’s perceptions towards

Grade 11 STEM students of Almeria National High School. The researchers
conducted an interview through an unstructured questionnaire that given to the
randomly selected subject teachers of first semester of Almeria National High
School, Baluarte Campus consisting of 3 boys and 7 girls within the School Year
2019-20.

Data were gathered, it was found out that there were less negative
feedback than the positive but majority of the respondents, among the nine
portrayed a positive feedback, while one respondent gave a negative feedback
based on the behavior.

Given the results, the researchers thought of recommending the idea that
the school, especially the teachers would have an open forum that would allow
the STEM students as well as the teachers to express their
