a) Draw and label an animal cell and a plant cell.
b) State the functions of the cellular components in an animal cell and in a plant
cell.
c) State the necessity for cell specialisation in multicellular organism as
compared to unicellular organism.
d) Predict the state of certain cells without a particular cellular component.
Learning Activities/ A. Set Induction
Strategy - Teacher shows a summary chart and asks the students to fill in the
blanks.

B. Development
- Teacher explains important topics from each subtopic and asks the
students to answer a few questions based on each subtopic.
- The teacher drill the students with questions of past year SPM regarding
Chapter 2.
- Question and answer session between teacher and students.

C. Closing
- Teacher recalls back the topic and asks questions to the students to know
their level of understanding.
- Teacher summarizes the lesson.

D. Reinforcement
- Teacher gives exercises regarding the topic explained from the
workbook assigned.

Strategy - Teacher notifies the students the day before that today is a chapter test
therefore no induction is needed.

- Teacher conducts a chapter test for the students comprises of 2 parts:
Objective Question and Subjective Question.

- Teacher summarizes Chapter 2.

- Teacher gives exercises regarding the topic explained from the

Strategy - Teacher shows a video on plasma membrane and asks the students what they
understand from the video shown.

B. Development
-Teacher explains to the students the substances required by living cells and the
substances that have to be eliminated from cells.
-Teacher explains the necessity for movement of substances across the plasma
membrane.
-Teacher explains the structure of the plasma membrane and the permeability of
the plasma membrane.
- Teacher shows some notes regarding the topic and gives some explanation.
- Question and answer session between teacher and students.

through the process of passive transport.
b) Explain the movement of water molecules across the plasma membrane by
osmosis.
c) Explain the movement of substances across the plasma membrane through the
process of active transport.
Learning Activities/ A. Set Induction
Strategy - Teacher shows students a video on movement of soluble substances across the
plasma membrane through the process of active and passive transport.

B. Development
-Teacher shows diagrams of movement of soluble substances across the plasma
membrane through the process of passive transport, osmosis and active transport
and explains the movement of the substances with the help of the diagrams.
-Teacher groups the students into a group of 4 and asks the students to draw the
movement of the substances across the plasma membrane through the process of
passive transport, osmosis and active transport.
- Teacher shows some notes regarding the topic and gives some explanation.
- Question and answer session between teacher and students to encourage
students to participate more in conversations.
