Explain what is ‘Causal Analysis’ which

takes place at the project closure stage.

Causal analysis is to try to find the root cause of an issue rather than the symptoms. When a concern
is found, the team will come together and arrange a brainstorming session to identify the root cause
of the problem and determine how to eliminate cause(s), taking into consideration the magnitude of
the problem and the risk involved.

Describe the importance of Causal

Analysis for Software Project closures.
Causal analysis helps improving processes in software development organizations, because it
contributes to identify the causes that generate defects during the software life cycle. It is also
possible to find opportunities for improvement, and implement actions to reduce the continuous
manifestation of the same type of defect in future projects. It should be noted that the early
detection of defects is beneficial, since timely treatment reduces the delay in the execution of the
project. Causal analysis improves quality and productivity by preventing the introduction of defects
into a product. It breaks down the failure of a product to determine what exactly went wrong.
Prevention of problems is much less expensive for the company than repairing the problem.
