To Whom It May Concern:

It is with much enthusiasm that I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Krystina Rodkey. I
had the opportunity to work with Krystina at Susquehanna University. She was enrolled in both
semesters of Woodwind Methods during her junior year of study, but in addition, I had the opportunity
to teach Krystina as a first-year student in Written Theory I.

Krystina’s level of experience for an undergraduate is impressive and I am quite confident she will be
an excellent addition to any teaching staff. As a teacher, musician, advocate, manager, and mentor
Krystina has the necessary skills in place to start right out of the gate.

Krystina’s primary instrument is French Horn. At SU she performed with Wind Ensemble, Symphonic
Band, Symphony Orchestra, chamber groups, and during this past semester played horn in Jazz
Ensemble under my direction. Moreover, as in most Music Ed programs juniors are required to present
a recital showcasing their musicianship. However, Krystina was also approved by the faculty to present
a senior recital this past year. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of her control the recital was not
able to be presented.

Although I did not have the opportunity to observe Krystina during student teaching, based on her in-
class teaching demonstrations in Woodwind Methods, I can only share that she provided positive,
thoughtful feedback and included relevant solutions to students. In addition, Krystina served as
Assistant Conductor for SU Strings giving her valuable experience in front of a youth ensemble. She
also has significant experience working with and supervising youth with her experience as a camp
counselor (residential) and teaching for the SU Preparatory Program.

Krystina has several key experiences that should also be noted. She served as Written Theory tutor for
two years in which her responsibilities included assisting students who were having difficulties and
grading homework assignments. Krystina served as Band staff manager, equipment manager, and
President of C-NAfME, the collegiate Music Educators professional service organization. She was
recently honored with the PMEA Service Award just couple of weeks ago.

It is not often one can predict with any certainty the success of a young teacher. As we all know there
are so many variables. However, I can with the greatest of confidence predict Krystina has the
fundamental skills to be a wonderful teacher. She is a team player, listens well, takes directions, is a
self-starter, and understands the importance of life-long learning. There is no doubt she will have her
student’s best interest in mind, and therefore, I offer my highest recommendation.

If I can answer any further questions do not hesitate to call or e-mail me at gblevinsky@susqu.edu or
by phone at (570) 372-4266.

Sincerely,

Gail B. Levinsky, DM
Professor of Music
