1 Introduction and Purpose of the study:

1.1 Purpose of Job Analysis:

The purpose of this study was to conduct a job analysis for the position of a Teacher for Wits
Academy Secondary School. Based upon the information obtained during the study, it was found
that, generally Teacher work either full time or part time in the origination. Employee generally;

 To teach and educate students according to guidelines provided by the National


Curriculum Framework
 Communicate with parents and students
 Constantly multi-tasking and switching between multiple tasks related to school

1.2 Introduction

Wits Academy Secondary School, located at Boudha-06, Katmandu, Nepal is established in 1999
A.D with objective of providing quality education. This institution focuses on to fuel the dreams
of aspiring students who wish to build successful careers in variety of areas. The objective of the
institute is to widen student’s capacity to make inter-disciplinarian and a humanist with
dexterous profession. The prime motto of the school is “Education for Civilization”. There are
30 teachers and 10 staffs from class 1 to class 10. With 18 teachers, Wits is currently conducting
+2 in Science, Humanities and Management and BBS and BSW programs affiliated with T.U.

Vision:

To empower students to acquire, demonstrate, articulate and value knowledge and skills that will
support them, as life-long learners, to participate in and contribute to the global world and
practice the core values of the school: respect, tolerance, inclusion and excellence.

To enable all learners' access to learning through the provision of:-

 differentiated, in-depth and cohesive learning programs aligned to year level content and
achievement standards informed by the Nepal Government curriculum

2 Job Analysis Participants and Location

Data and informations from the teachers from the organization who have performed similar
function are included in these analysis. The following will demonstrates that the subject matter
experts who participated in this study are diverse in age and experience.

Work Setting:

30 teachers were interviewed and asked about their responsibilities, duties and policy about the
organization during the job analysis. Their experience, qualification required, traits needed for
teachers etc. are asked and kept record. Interview is taken at school premise.

3 Job Analysis

Job Analysis is a systematic exploration, study and recording the responsibilities, duties, skills,
accountabilities, work environment and ability requirements of a specific job. It also involves
determining the relative importance of the duties, responsibilities and physical and emotional
skills for a given job. All these factors identify what a job demands and what an employee must
possess to perform a job productively.

Job summary To prepare and teach assigned subjects and establish clear objectives for all lessons,
projects and communicate those objectives to students. Maintain accurate and
complete student records and evaluate student’s performance, behavior and
development.

Day-to-day tasks  Arrive by 9:15 A.M
 Conduct gate duty from 9:30 to 9:45 A.M to check dress code, personal
hygiene etc.
 Conduct assembly by 9:45 to 10:00 A.M

 Establish and enforce rule for behavior and procedures for maintaining order
among students
 Prepare objectives and outlines for course of study as per curriculum

3.1 Job Description

Job Title: Teacher

Job Overview: Job of teacher is to create and deliver engaging lessons to diverse groups of students
and promote enthusiasm for learning by adhering to national curriculum standards. S/he must
collect and report on correct and detailed records of student performance and maintain classroom
order.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Key Responsibilities:

 Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class;


 Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual
students and groups of students;
 Assigning work, correcting and marking work carried out by his/her students;
 Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and
behaviour of one’s students;
 Providing guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters and
on their further education and future careers; providing information on sources of more
expert advice;
 Communicating, consulting and co-operating with other members of the school staff,
including those having posts of special responsibility and parents/guardians to ensure the
best interest of students;
 Contributes to student learning, growth, and advancement.

6 Identification and Design of Selection Tools

After receiving the application form from candidates, they are filtered and call for an interview.
In interview, their knowledge about related subjects are examined. More focus is done in

qualitative qualities like his behavior/attitude, students handling capacity, ability to manage
conflicts, perception about job, ability to collaborate with teams and students etc.

Class demonstration is taken if required but generally interview is enough for the recruitment
process.

9 Conclusion:

With 20 years of experience, Wits hasn’t compromised in providing quality education to


children. It is student focused organization. The school should be sensitive towards the quality of
service it provides to students. Therefore, appropriate and best teacher must be selected.
Recruitment process should be efficient, effective and fair. The best teacher-student fit must be
maintained.

Teacher evaluation is another key function of the HR department which helps teachers to
improve continuously and motivate them. It will help management team to reward appropriate
individual on basis of their commitment and hard work and give suggestions and feedback to
those who may require improvement. As teachers are the backbone of the institution, they are
second parents to children, effective job analysis must be done for the effectiveness of
organisation’s goals and objectives.
