INTRODUCTION-
Today’s industrial and globalized world is competing with the
price rate increment of petrol. Petrol prices are rise and rise nowadays.
Within their spam, the purity of petrol and estimated cost petrol are
the two main important factors, in the customers as well as retailers
point of view.

In 21st century when the aspirants are more and more for the fuel
use and petrol availability is goes on decreasing. In such case, the
problem with the petrol supply comes in picture, where the
adulteration s done. Then obstacles such as purity of petrol, estimated
cost of petrol problems comes in picture.

For two wheelers, there problems goes on increasing for the


petrol and oil. Engine oil is one of the important factors, where the user
can’t get the details clarification for when to change the engine oil and
at what appropriate time.

These are two main obstacles in front of the users, it becomes


headeck from person to person what are the standard for the petrol
cost?? Which is the actual time for the servicing??? Many steps are on
the way to solve the problem, with this technical generation we are
putting one method beneficial for the users.

RELEVANCE-
In our ideas of project, we are mainly focusing on the purity of
petrol and the indication of motor servicing like maintenance and oil
servicing. Also the petrol with respected cost that we was paid is filled
in our petrol tank of the vehicle or not will indicate in our project. By
taking some tests we will find out, whether petrol that we are going to
fill in our tank is pure or not.

For the fuel insertion method in our fuel tank, we paid to the
dealer and with the help of petrol insertion machine; he put petrol in
our tank. There is no standard for the petrol cost .e.g. if we paid 50
rupees to the worker and worker put only the 40rupees petrol in our
tank then on what basis we have to argue with the dealer. So to get out
from this problem we develop a petrol level sensor which will give the
exact amount of fuel inserted.

In case of Oil changing, we can’t get the exact time when to do


servicing of the vehicle. After certain distance of km we go through the
mechanics and ask whether it is proper time to servicing or not, but
actual problems is that oil changing process not depend on the distance
because oil get compressed in winter and expand in summer. So it is
not appropriate way for oil changing.

To solve these problems we develop one method which will give


the exact time for the servicing.

OBJECTIVES-
Following objectives are taken into consideration in our project
idea-

1. To get the indication of the oil changing and maintenance to the


owner of the vehicle.

2. To get the clear view of the price of filled petrol in the tank of
vehicle.

3. Schematic preparation.
4. Preparation of B.O.M.
5. Component placement.
6. Preparation of PCB fabrication.

PROPOSED WORK-
The proposed work of our project explained below stepwise-

1. Block Diagram:

Block diagram of our project consist of four parts that are PIC
16F877A, Power supply, Keyboard and LCD display and two sensors that
are Fuel Tank Sensor and Optical Oil Clarity Check Sensor.

PIC 16F877A this peripheral Interface Controller is used in our


project. To take various inputs of petrol prizes which are going to use
4*4 keyboard and to display the output like oil quality and petrol

present in fuel tank 16*2 LCD display is used. Power supply is used
which gives output voltage after rectifying the input to the transformer.

The main sensor which we are going to implement is Optical Oil


Clarity Check Sensor, which gives output voltage with respect to oil
density present in oil chamber. Second sensor is Fuel Tank Sensor; this
sensor gives various outputs after calibrating the fuel is petrol level
present in the fuel tank.

2. Flow Chart:

Above shown flow chart shows about our project’s working


therapy. In our idea of project, firstly initialization is takes place. After
that petrol present in fuel tank and quality of oil in percentage, which is
present vehicle oil chamber is checked. After checking these two
parameters, it is displayed on the 16*2 LCD display.

Then after this process, there is a message will be display that


takes the petrol prize value as input from user, if user wants to fill the
petrol in fuel tank. That message is, press 1 to input prize of petrol. If 1
is not pressed then there will be checking and displaying of petrol level
and oil quality is continuously done in cycle. If 1 is pressed then, user
must enter the petrol prize and after putting the prize, user have to
press 1 to set that prize.

If 1 is pressed then system will check the quantity of petrol and


displayed it on display. System will take input numeric 2 to exit this
process. If 2 is pressed then it will exit and shows previously explained
two parameters continuously.

3.Circuit Diagram:

PIC 16F877A is of 40pin IC, which is has operating speed DC


20MHz clock input and 200ns of instruction cycle. +5V power supply is
given to the PIC controller. 4*4 keyboard and 16*2 LC display is
interfaced with this controller. Keyboard is used for take the input
values of petrol from user and LCD display is used to display parameters
like petrol present in fuel tank and quality of oil present in oil chamber
in percentage.

Fuel tank sensor is used to detect the petrol level present in fuel
tank. Depending upon the petrol present in fuel tank calibration is done
by this sensor and output is passed to the PIC controller.

Moving further to next sensor i.e. Optical oil clarity check sensor,
which is used to check quality of oil present in oil chamber. In this laser
diode and photo transistor is used. Output is given to the PIC controller.

PIC controller is executes the program after getting the inputs and
displays the output in terms of petrol level present in fuel tank in terms
of exact decimal points and oil quality in terms of percentage.

4.Power Supply:

Power supply is used to give +5V DC power to the PIC controller


and other periferals like keyboard, display, laser diode etc. 230V AC
supply is provied to the step down transformer. This transformer
converts his 230V AC supply into 12V AC supply. This 12V AC is rectified
by bridge arragement of diodes and LM 7805 IC. 12V AC firstly passes
through bridge rectifier, by which it is converted in 12V which is having
ripple. LM 7805 is used to covert this 12V to 5V voltage. This 5V with
ripple is converted into pure 5V DC supply voltage, which is given to the
futher peripherals.

WORKING TOOLS-
1)PIC 16F877A-

We have used PIC microcontroller PIC16F877 which is 8 bit


controller. The controller has wide operating voltage range
approximately from 2V to 5.5V. We have used it because it has high
performance RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) CPU so that easy
for programming. It has inbuilt 10 bit analog to digital converter.

It is a 40 pin controller has operating speed DC 20MHz clock input.


5V DC supply is obtained from the power supply using LM7805
regulator. Also it has 5 ports for the interfacing.

2)Fuel Tank Sensor-

Fuel tank sensor is used to dectect the petrol level present in fuel
tank of vehicle. In this sensor one floating disc is present , which is
placed in the fuel tank of vehicle on the surface of petrol as it is
floatable on liquids.

This disc is move up- down depends on petrol level present in fuel
tank. Depending upon this motion of this floating device, calibration is
done by the sensor. Output is generated which is proportional to petrol
present is fuel tank. This output is given to the PIC controller. PIC takes
takes this as inputs and executes it in program and display it on LCD
diplay.

The resolution of this is sensor after executing it into controller is


upto three decimals rights i.e. more than current system present.

3)Optical Oil Clarity Check Sensor-

Optical oil clarity check sensor consisting two main parts i.e. laser
diode and photo transistor. We are going to use LD 1074 laser diode
and Pin photo transistor in this sensor implementation.

This two parts are placed in the oil chamber of vehicle. Laser
diode emitts laser light in the direction of photo transistor. Photo
transistor gets that light. Light intensity which is reaches at photo
transistor is depend on oil density present in oil chamber. More light is
reached at photo transistor that means oil is less denser, If less light is
reached that means oil is more denser that indicates the changing of
oil.

Photo transistor gives output in the form of different voltage


ranges that is depend on oil density. This output of photo transistor in
the form of different voltages is given to the PIC controller. This input to
the PIC controller will then calibrate and execute in PIC controller
program and output will be display on LCD display.

4)16*2 LCD Display-

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module


and find a wide range of applications. A 16x2 LCD display is very basic
module and is very commonly used in various devices and circuits.
These modules are preferred over seven segments and other multi
segment LEDs. The reasons being: LCDs are economical; easily
programmable; have no limitation of displaying special & even custom
characters (unlike in seven segments), animations and So on. A 16x2
LCD means it can display 16 characters per line and there are 2 such
lines. In this LCD each character is displayed in 5x7 pixel matrix. This
LCD has two registers, namely, Command and Data. The command
register stores the command instructions given to the LCD. A command
is an instruction given to LCD to do a predefined task like initializing it,
clearing its screen, setting the cursor position, controlling display etc.
The data register stores the data to be displayed on the LCD. The data is
the ASCII value of the character to be displayed on the LCD. So we use

LCD for visual interaction i.e. for displaying the code entered by the
users.

5)4*4 Keyboard-

It is 4x4 type keypad. This 4x4 keypad is used for loading numeric
into the microcontroller. It consists of 16 button arranged in a form of
an array containing four lines and four columns. It is connected to the
development system by regular IDC 10 female connector plugged in
some development systems port. We directly connect to I/O pins on
the microcontroller. So do not require any extra hardware circuitry for
operation. The number loaded via keypad is converted into the
equivalent ASCIII code and then it is displayed in the second line of LCD
display.

6)LM7805-

LM 7805 three pin IC used to regulate the input voltage into


required amount. It is three pin IC consisting input, output and ground
as pins. It regulates input voltage into 5V output.

7)1N4007-

1N4007 is diode used to direct the current in forward direction.


This diode conducts on forward biasing and blocks on reverse biasing.
This diode is placed in bridge arrengement to get required output i.e.
constant ripple DC voltage.

FACILITY AVAILABLE & REQUIRMENT-


 ORCAD software , PCB drilling, soldering , project labs , internet
facilities.
 We require a VB software.

APPLICATIONS-
1) Intelligent oil check and fuel level indication system can be used
for the two wheelers as well as four wheelers cars.
2) Oil clarity check sensor gives us detail clarification of oil purity,
which will indicate on the LCD display and this will benificial for
the user and easy to handle.
3) Petrol level sensor gives the correct value of the inserted petrol,
which will indicate exact level of petrol in fuel tank with maximum
resolution in three decimal points right.
4) Monitoring, displaying, resulting and quickness of this project
leads in applicaion than the other which will increase it’s scope in
future.
5) The same system can be used for other vehicle with some
modification, which will shows the flexibility of the project.

FUTURE SCOPE-
In this system, we are used two parameters that are oil clarity
checking and petrol level indication. With this two parameters we are
also intrested in petrol purity checking system, which will gives the
complete package for the vehicle system. While seeing with this two
parameters as future scope can be seen as the both the oil clarity check
sensor and the petrol level indication sensor for the vehicle system and
it can impletemented for the higher level systems as petrol and oil
parameters matters in this system. The detection and monitoring
system can be used for the other system with less prize and more
flexibility.

This system can be used by also each petrol feeling pump station
for their petrol level checking system which will avoid adulteration and
robbery at the petrol feeling pump.
