STOPE LEDGING PROCEDURES (TM3)

GENERAL

1 . The winch will be sited at the top of the panel. This winch will normally be the winch
used to raise the block of ground above ledging area.

2 . The winch will be protected by the crush pillars and heaped ore in front of it during the
ledging operations.

3 . It will be necessary to load and clean the ledge in two phases until face is advanced
sufficiently for ASD or roadway to store the whole face blasts broken ore.

4 . Winch barricade and signal devices will be as per standard during cleaning operations.
The driver and his assistant (Team Supervisor) cleaning the raise will ensure the ASD /
roadway is not choked.

5 . LHD will not load ledging area if the scraper is operational.

DRILLING

1 . Install temporary support in raise on centre line 1,5 metre on dip .

2 . Install 1,2 metre split sets in raise 0,5m left and 0,5m right of centre line 1,2m on dip.

3 . After completion of support in raise the Shift Supervisor will inform the Mine Overseer.

4 . The Mine Overseer will go down and satisfy himself that the support is to standard and
everything is safe to ledge . He will then give permission to blast, this will be entered
on the UG 41.

5 . Only one side of the raise will be ledge at one time. Holes will be marked in normal
fashion and starter jumpers will be used to open up raise width i.e. short holes then
deepened with normal steel.

6 . Air and water services for drilling will located at the top of the panel. 50mm Hoses will
be used to bring manifolds onto face being drilled.

7 . Where bottom ASD or roadway is down grade no drilling will be done if pump is not
operational.

8 . Shift Supervisor and Miner will daily inspect the quality of drilling on ledge to ensure
hangingwall is not damaged.

DRILLING

9 . Once drilling is completed the machines and equipment will be removed from ledge and
stored in the top ASD or roadway.

10. Any slip / fault or Geological feature will be supported as per standard prior to any blasting
taking place.
GENERAL
1 . Once ledging has been completed the Shift Supervisor will call for survey lines at the
top of the panel to ensure pillars are cut at the required position. This line is the panel
limit line and will be extended to the face before the face is marked for drilling.

2 . If rig chains are used to secure snatch blocks for cleaning the eyebolt holes will be drilled
1,0m apart on this line.

3 . Once the faces have advanced in excess of 20m from the original raise back area barricades
must be commenced to reduce area to be examined by miners and team supervisors.

4 . Unusable blasted support must not be allowed to accumulate in the entrance or exit to
the ledging stope. It must be cleared by the transport crews bringing new support.

5 . The centre line of the raise must be painted in at all times as this forms the basis of the
rows of support in the true dip raises. Ledging of raises which are not put up on the dip
will be done in accordance with written instructions issued by the Mine Overseer and
sanctioned by the Section Manager.

6 . ASD or roadway sidewalls will be examined for “Safe Holing” of pillar raises. Results of
this examination will be recorded in the holing point examination book described in
working guide line STD Code 5 Ref. No 5.6.
