Overconsumption has put the planet at risk due to the fact that we thrive on material things
that we consider necessities, these necessities are built from the organic materials that the
earth naturally produces, although, what we have considered “necessities” have expanded
throughout the years. As our need for these so-called “necessities” grow, we often forget that
not everything on earth is limitless, and often must be replaced. The materials we take for
granted include trees, it is a necessity to which we use to an extent that we leave bare the
places that were once forests, without these trees we continue to experience floods, climate
change, and soil erosion.

2. Materialism, we often view objects as “one time use” and will often replace for newer objects
even if the old ones could still be of use. The materialism we experience due to mass production
proves dangerous, due to machineries being able to produce a large quantity of objects in a
short time, we grow materialistic and often don’t think first before we buy to check if it is truly a
need.

3. Yes, if we were to regulate our growth and consumption, manufacturers would think twice
before they over produce a single item, and we can then recycle materials from other objects. If
we monitor the growth of society, we could lessen the consumption of natural resources, such
as land, for the more people there are, the more space is needed to allocate for housing.
