1. What were the problems of Papa Gino’s Inc.?


- One of the major problems of Papa Gino’s Inc. was regarding the budgeting of the
company which takes four (4) months to consolidate and validate data from all the
different spreadsheets and complete the process. They also have an issue when it
comes to analyzing operational performance in areas they had never been able to
measure accurately such as the pizza delivery times and marketing campaign
effectiveness
2. What are the data available that can be used for an analytics solution?
- Martha Lieber, Director of Business mentioned that Papa Gino’s Inc. effectively had
three (3) main business systems which are the JD Edwards ERP system, the restaurant
point-of-sale system and Microsoft Excel. Also mentioned by the CIO, Paul Valle that
they offer coupons and loyalty program through the use of Cognos which can also be
used as data for an analytics solution.
3. What are the possible solutions that can be provided for Papa Gino’s Inc. to help
them solve their problem?
- As what I have mentioned in the previous questions, the Budgeting is only one of the
problems of Papa Gino’s Inc., there are still a lot of minimal problems and shortcomings
within the company which affects its performance and sales, which is why they are
looking forward on fixing some of those to improve their sales such as assessing the
company’s existing technology to identify areas where new system and process could be
deliver the greatest value. They also look forward on creating a single central solution to
standardize and significantly accelerate the planning and reporting process of the
company. This would allow them to analyze operational performance accurately and to
improve the effectiveness of their marketing campaign strategy.
