Lesson type: Vocabulary and Grammar
Information about the class:
The class is made up of 15 students, a mixed class
The class: 4th grade– 2nd year of study.
The learners all have books and we have done Unit 1. For this lesson I have
planned to start Unit 2 which focuses on the lesson related to the family. I have
decided to work on the vocabulary and also on grammar points- possessive
adjectives.
OBJECTION
The text proposed by the authors is heigh about their level. The students are just
familiarized with vocabulary on different topics. The text contains too many
unknown words and also difficult grammar construction for their level.
Aim : provide controlled and freer practice of the vocabulary and of the grammar
point( possessive adjective)
Subsidiary aim:
To practice vocabulary( about family) and grammar point(possessive adjective).
Personal aim:
To reduce teacher language in whole class activities and provide more learner
interaction.
Materials (including source):
Flashcards- designed by the teacher representing members of the family
Magic English – exercises for elementary students , Ionela Mateciuc
Word cards for optional activity
Handouts for grammar issue( possessive adjective and family members)
Assumptions:
Learners have been taught the members of the family before,but they have not
written anything so it would be just a re-actualisation as for as listening skills are
concerned, but not as for writing skill is concerned. The grammar issue is easy for
their level.
Anticipated difficulties with tasks:
Small students, with a poor level, may have some difficulties in placing in the right
position the possessive adjectives.
Solutions: Some learners may have difficulty with grammar issue but I will be
prepared to practice together with the vocabulary related to the members of the
family).
