Cellular Respiration Choice

Board
WEEK XX
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions!
Directions: For this week, you will choose two of the choices
in the table below and complete the corresponding
activities. To retrieve directions for your chosen activity,
right click on the word and you will be directed to an
additional powerpoint slide.

Steps to complete this activity:

1. Click on the link to access a CK-12 reading all about Cellular

Respiration:

2. Read the article and watch the video provided.

3. In complete sentences, answer the 5 review questions that are

located at the end of the article. You may handwrite or type out
your answers.

Discuss
Steps to complete this activity:

Scenario: While walking in downtown Ann Arbor, you see posters titled “Clear the
Arb”. The proposal promotes clearing the land surrounding the local arboretum
in order to build more parking spaces for U of M’s Hospital.

1. You will play two roles: the advocate as well as the critic. For each, create a concept map.
(Yes, you will turn in 2 concept maps).

2. For each role, you will place yourself in the shoes of the specific perspective. You may use
outside resources to gage the responses an advocate or critic of this plan could hold.

3. You will state the role in the center. Your map must include the following:
1. The Perspective/Why
2. A Plan of Action for the Proposal
3. Environmental Impact (relate to cellular respiration)
4. Human Impact (relate to cellular respiration)
5. Economical Impact
**Designing it is up to you. Feel free to use paper, powerpoint, or any resources you
have at home!**

4. Lastly, choose a side! There is no right or wrong! In one paragraph (4-5 complete
sentences), state your perspective. Use the concept maps created to support your own
reasoning!

Steps to complete this activity:

1. Click on the link to access a video reviewing the process of Cellular Respiration: (Yes -
Amoeba Sisters - your favorite!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Eo7JtRA7lg

2. After watching the video, create your own drawing or representation to model the
following processes::
1. Glycolysis
2. Kreb’s Cycle/ Citric Acid Cycle
3. Electron Transport Chain

3. You must include and label the following:

a. Overall cellular respiration equation
b. Location where each cycle occurs
c. Reactants and products in each stage
d. Highlight to show connection of reactants and products listed in the cellular
respiration equation and where they are included in each cycle

4. Submit your assignment via Google Classroom or email directly to me:

Steps to complete this activity:

1. You will create your own recording to discuss the process of cellular
respiration- both aerobic and anaerobic. Be creative!

2. Here are a few examples of what this may look like:

1. Teaching the cellular respiration process to a “class”. You may
use props such as stuffed animals or family members willing to
help out!
2. Write and perform a song or skit
3. Create a series of appropriate Tik-Toks

3. You must include the following in your recording:

1. Why cellular respiration occurs?/ Why is it important?
2. What steps require oxygen? What steps do not?
3. What happens if there is no oxygen present?
4. Briefly walk us through the following:
a. Glycolysis, Kreb’s Cycle, Electron Transport Chain, Lactic
Acid Fermentation, and Alcoholic Fermentation

4. Submit your assignment via Google Classroom or email directly to me:

Steps to complete this activity:
1. Take a break! If you are feeling overwhelmed, do what is best for you - mentally,
emotionally, and physically! You can choose to complete this short activity, however, I will
ask that you do NOT choose this option for our next choice board!

2. Click on the link to access a game to review photosynthesis and cellular respiration:
https://biomanbio.com/HTML5GamesandLabs/PhotoRespgames/photoresphtml5page.html

3. In complete sentences, answer the following questions: :

1. Why do organisms have to undergo cellular respiration?
2. What reactants did you need to collect for cellular respiration to occur?
3. What products were made from cellular respiration?
4. Why do plants need to undergo photosynthesis??
5. What reactants did you need to collect for photosynthesis to occur?
6. What products were made from photosynthesis?
7. How are the two equations related?
